HSEU W.A.T.C.H | What is the Heat Index?

The heat index tells us how hot it really feels outside, taking into account humidity along with the temperature. When humidity is high, it can make the air feel much hotter than the actual temperature!

Why it matters:

Higher heat index increases risk of heat-related illnesses.
It can cause your body to overheat faster.

Stay safe:

Check the heat index before outdoor activities.
Stay hydrated and wear lightweight clothing.
Limit strenuous activities during high heat index days.
Take frequent breaks in cool, shaded areas.

Remember: Just because the thermometer shows a certain temperature, the heat index shows how it truly feels — Stay cool, Stay safe
