📌 Appendicitis: What You Should Know

Appendicitis is one of the most common causes of emergency abdominal surgery in the Philippines, affecting thousands of Filipinos each year—especially those aged 10 to 30.

🔎 Causes:
It happens when the appendix becomes blocked, often by stool, infection, or swelling of lymph tissue. This blockage leads to inflammation and infection.

⚠️ Symptoms to Watch:
- Sudden pain starting near the navel and moving to the lower right abdomen
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fever
- Loss of appetite

🏥 Treatment:
Appendicitis is a medical emergency. The standard treatment is surgical removal of the appendix (appendectomy), can be open or laparoscopic. Early treatment leads to faster recovery and fewer complications.

💡 Reminder:
Don’t ignore persistent abdominal pain—seek medical attention immediately to avoid rupture, which can be life-threatening.
