As a cosmetic surgeon, I always lecture and remind my colleagues in conferences and conventions— and my patients during consultation and socmed— that alar trimming is not about making the nostrils simply smaller. It’s about creating balance, symmetry, and natural harmony with the whole face.
Safety always comes first. That means careful assessment, precise markings, and most importantly — conservative trimming. Because in surgery, less is often more… and you can always remove more, but you can never put tissue back.
When done properly, the best alar trim should look invisible, natural, and beautifully proportioned — like you were born with it.
That’s the art and responsibility of aesthetic surgery.- MF
