Our second rainbow baby together 🥰
Delivered to this healthy baby girl to a high risk mom:
- advanced maternal age (44yo)
- history of preterm labor, underwent cerclage (G2)
- history of 1 miscarriage (G1)
- gestational diabetes, insulin-requiring
- with nodular non-toxic goiter
Mommy C. was a referral from a colleague during her second pregnancy last 2022. That time ay nagpi preterm labor sya at 26 weeks lang. I was hesitant to do emergency cerclage dahil ang dilated na ng cervix nya and at the same time ay may mababa na ang bag of water kaya natakot ako at baka ma puncture ko yung bag during cerclage. Pero by God’s grace, nang na control namin ang preterm labor, naglakas loob akong icerclage carefully at nagawa naman namin. That same night ay naghilab uli sya at nag bumaba na ang heartbeat, kaya her previous OB decided to transfer her to my care. Tinyaga namin na pagandahin pa ang trace ni baby and eventually ay napauwi pa namin sya. Naka insulin sya that time for GDM and medyo growth-restricted but naging ok din. She delivered to a healthy baby girl at exactly 37 weeks via normal spontaneous delivery (hinintay nya ako na kumaripas from my MFM certifying exam bago sya umire hehe). 🥰
Imagine my surprise (and slight fear 😆) when she came back pregnant again. We scheduled her cerclage (history-indicated) at 12 weeks, dahil lagi rin syang nag bi bleed. At 20 weeks, umiiksi pa further ang cervix nya. So we decided to put pessary din (Last 2022, hind pa ako naglalagay ng pessary). Everything went well, normal ang thyroid function test, though yung GDM nya was managed again with insulin.
At exactly 37 weeks, we removed her pessary and cerclage. Upon IE, her cervix was already 4cm dilated kaya we admitted her, and she gave birth that night to a cute baby girl weighing 3050 grams! 🐣
It was a full circle moment for both of us. Marami kaming natutunan along the way. Mas relax kami this time dahil mas maaga ang lahat ng intervention. And although ayaw na ni momsh na magbuntis uli, her story will stay with me forever.
