THE ST. JOSUE ACADEMY MODE OF LEARNING
Praying for the safety of everyone and the SJA family.
Duty still calls even if we all bid adieu to the old way of doing things. For educational institutions, the raison d’être of education in molding and empowering learners to become good citizens of society remains even there is a global pandemic.
In the new normal, there should be a stronger home and school partnership that can facilitate better and more consistent communication and collaboration between teachers and parents. Communication of learning goals, expectations, and feedback can help sustain the needed collaborative relationship between the parents, and the teachers.
Saint Josue Academy is adopting modern modes of instruction in line with the new trends in the new normal where parents, teachers and learners can collaborate during the learning process to ensure quality outputs.
As the school environment is shifting into new modality, the blended learning approach is used, which is the mix of on-line and on-school learning, that will surely use educational technology like, google classroom, google form, messenger, google zoom and/or google meet as the new platforms to educate our children without physically going to school every day. However, despite the hardship that our parents may seem be experiencing at this kind of set up, the school decided to support the online learning with a modular distance learning approach which will schedule face-to-face session twice a week with a minimal number of learners following the safety protocols of IATF and DOH (social distancing, wearing face mask for learners and face shield for teachers, spraying alcohol on hands, cleaning and disinfecting the rooms and chair, putting plastic shield between chairs, and checking of temperature through thermal scanner etc.)
As part of SJA’s action plan for the academic year 2020-2021, the set up here below will be followed:
1.Modular Distance Learning
• The SJA new curriculum will accommodate a modular distance learning. Face-to-face classes will take place within the week. Time will also be allotted for students to accomplish school-related tasks and homework on their own with scheduled weekly paper activities. Parents consultations with teachers will also be scheduled on one-on-one basis.
2.Class room-twice a week sessions
•A maximum of 10 students per class room will be strictly observed every session, which will be conducted twice a week in compliance to the health protocol set by the Government.
3.Parents are the best teachers
• This time, parents and guardians are encouraged to be more active in teaching their children at home to accomplish the scheduled homework assignment. This set up, parents are the children’s best teachers at home. We expect changes on how the SJA family can further help each other with the transition of learning in class and at home. The school is also mandated to provide educational materials, seminar workshop on how the parents perform the teaching at home to be held before the opening of classes.
4.Strictly observed Health Protocol
• SJA will comply with the government’s regulations on the following safety measures
• Contact tracing: Forms will be made available to be filled out for monitoring of medical and travel history
*Thermal scanning upon entry. If found with colds or fever, entry will be denied
*sanitary is required. Practice handwashing before and after classroom classes
*Disinfection of school premises of atleast once a day
*Social distancing is strictly observed inside the school premises
*No horse playing
*No more playground
Please be patient enough to wait and watch for the government’s next pronouncement on the final opening of classes, due to the growing numbers of covid 19 cases that reported every day. We are bound to comply with the government’s policy that governs the opening of classes.
We are here to support you as we anticipate your full cooperation.
Thank you.
SJA Management.
