Our 4-month old cute little baby girl received her 3rd dose of Pneumococcal, Hexavalent and Rotavirus vaccines. 💉
Navigating a child's immunization schedule can feel like learning a new language. These three vaccines are fundamental building blocks of early childhood health, often given in the first few months of life.
ℹ️ℹ️ℹ️
1. Hexavalent Vaccine (The "6-in-1" Shot)
This is a combination vaccine, meaning it protects against six different diseases in a single injection. It is designed to reduce the number of shots a baby needs.
✅ Protects Against: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B, Polio, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib).
2. Pneumococcal Vaccine (PCV)
This vaccine targets Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, which can cause everything from annoying ear infections to life-threatening issues like pneumonia or meningitis.
✅ Protects Against: Invasive pneumococcal diseases.
3. Rotavirus Vaccine
Unlike most other childhood vaccines, this one is administered orally (as liquid drops in the mouth) rather than as a shot.
✅ Protects Against: Rotavirus, a virus that causes severe watery diarrhea, vomiting, and fever, which can quickly lead to dangerous dehydration in infants.
