Team Sigay Mental Health Advocates Conducts MHPSS Stress Debriefing for Human Resource for Health in Negros Occidental

We are honored to share that Team Sigay Mental Health Advocates of Sagay City was invited by the Provincial Health Office Mental Health Unit and CLMMRH to be part of this activity.

This initiative was dedicated to the Human Resources for Health (HRH) professionals deployed across various Local Government Units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental, recognizing their dedication and resilience in serving the community.

Through this session, we aimed to provide support, promote mental well-being, and equip our frontliners with coping strategies to navigate the challenges of their vital roles in healthcare.

We extend our gratitude to the Provincial Health Office - Negros Occidental and CLMMRH DOH Western Visayas for this opportunity and salute all HRH professionals for their unwavering commitment to public health.

📢 Strengthening Mental Health Awareness Among Students! 🧠💙

In response to the growing concerns surrounding adolescent mental health, a 3-day Mental Health Screening was successfully conducted for the Senior High School students of Sagay National High School. This initiative was carried out by Psychology students from National University (NU) Bacolod, under the guidance of Dr. Mark T. Ortibano, Head of the NU Bacolod School of Psychology and Consultant Psychologist for the Sagay City LGU; Mr. Jose Marie Portal, NU Bacolod Community Engagement Coordinator; and Ms. Trina Grace Pahilanag, NU Bacolod Guidance Counselor.

This meaningful activity was made possible through the invaluable support and leadership of Ms. Ryan Joy Dizon, Executive and Academic Director of NU Bacolod.

The initiative was further strengthened through careful planning and coordination with the DepEd Tayo Sagay City, led by Mr. Dannie Clark Dan Uguil, and the Principal of Sagay National High School - Senior High School, Mr. Jerson Donasco . Their unwavering commitment to addressing the growing mental health challenges faced by adolescents paved the way for this impactful engagement.

With the collective efforts of multiple sectors—Sagay City Health Office, Sagay CSWD, Sagay DRRM, and TEAM MHPSS TEAM SIGAY—the screening has successfully commenced. However, this is just the beginning! 🌱

This initiative marks a significant step toward promoting mental health awareness, providing essential support, and creating a safer, more nurturing environment where students can thrive.

Let’s continue working together to break the stigma surrounding mental health and prioritize the well-being of our youth! Mental health matters! 💙

Special thanks to our Congressman Alfredo D. Marañon, III, City Mayor Hon Narciso L.Javelosa Jr and Vice Mayor Leo Rafael M. Cueva for all the financial and manpower support and to the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental Governor Hon. Eugenio Jose Lacson for the provision of vehicle to the students of the National University Bacolod

NEW BENEFIT IN FOCUS: PHILHEALTH OUTPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH PACKAGE TO SUPPORT “INVISIBLE” PAINS OF FILIPINOS

PhilHealth is committed to holistically addressing the healthcare needs of every Filipino.

“Nais naming ipaabot na kahit hindi nakikita ang inyong daing, may PhilHealth na magbibigay ng suporta at alaga sa inyo. Ito po ay alinsunod sa mga prayoridad ng ating Pangulong Marcos,” said Dr. Edwin M. Mercado, PhilHealth Acting President and CEO.

Through the PhilHealth's Outpatient Benefits Package for Mental Health [PhilHealth Circular 2023-0018], members and dependents aged 10 and above, can now access services encompassing initial assessments, follow-up consultations, diagnostic tests, and psychosocial support. It covers conditions such as depression, psychosis, epilepsy, child and adolescent mental and behavioral disorders, dementia, and self-harm or su***de risks, among others.
As such, those requiring specialized care are provided with access to interventions from psychiatrists, neurologists, and psychologists. PhilHealth provides annual coverage of Php 9,000 for general mental health services and Php 16,000 for specialized care.

Members can access these benefits at any accredited facility that provides general mental health services. These facilities include rural health units (RHUs), city or municipal health offices, level 1 and 2 hospitals, Department of Health (DOH) Medicine Access Program-mental health access sites, and stand alone mental health clinics.

On the other hand, specialized mental health services can be accessed at accredited Level 2 and 3 hospitals with specialized staff, custodial care facilities, and national specialty centers identified by DOH.

"We recognize the importance of accessible mental health services for every Filipino. Kaya naman, katuwang din natin ang Kagawaran ng Kalusugan sa patuloy pang pagpapalawig ng ating mga serbisyo para sa kalusugang pangkaisipan. We are calling for more providers to participate and make these services within reach of Filipinos with mental health struggles," added Dr. Mercado.

Beyond the Mental Health package, PhilHealth encourages individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or mental health distress to utilize readily available 24/7 crisis hotlines, including the National Center for Mental Health hotline at 0917-899 8727 or 989-8727, for immediate counseling.
PhilHealth remains committed to strengthening the nation's mental health service infrastructure and ensuring that quality care is accessible to all Filipinos needing them. Let's seize this opportunity to educate ourselves and others about PTSD. By understanding its symptoms and offering empathy, we can foster a more compassionate and inclusive environment for those living with PTSD. 🤝

Concept Check: ANO ANG GUILT? ☺️

Ang guilt ay isang self-conscious emotion triggered ng ating perceived wrongdoing. Ito ay nagsasabi sa atin to recognize our actions' negative consequences at also imotivate tayo to change for the better. Our culture, family, at kung pano tayo pinalaki can influence kung gaano ka intense ang ating experience guilt.
