The FITS Center of the City Agriculture Office-IGACOS was present during the meeting of the Mga Yanong Manggaranon (MAYAMAN) Association last September 11, 2025 at Brgy. Guilon, where members showed genuine interest in the agricultural knowledge resources provided.

By actively reading and engaging with the materials, the participants demonstrated their commitment to learning and adopting relevant information that could further support their farming endeavors and strengthen the association’s pursuit of sustainable agricultural development.

GIYA SA PAGTANUM SA SITAO:

I. Pag-andam sa Yuta nga Pagatamnan
Darohon ug pakarasan ang yuta sa ikaduha o ikatulo
nga beses aron kini mapino.

II. Pagtanom ug Pag-atiman sa Tanom

1. 7 kilong binhi ang gikinahanglan sa usa ka ektarya.
2. Butangan ug mga organikong abono ang yuta sa dili pa magtanom. 250 ka kilong abono ang gikinahanglan sa usa ka ektarya.
3. Itanom ang 2-3 ka liso sa bangag nga may 3 sentimetro ang
kalalom, 60-80 sentimetro matag tudling, ug usa ka metro ang distansya matag plot.
4. Magbutang ug estaka matag tudling kung motubo na ang
tanom.
5. Basukan ug kuhaon ang mga sagbot.
6. Bubuan ug bisbisan ang tanom inig abot sa napulo (10) ka
adlaw kung walay ulan.
7. Kung adunay makitang mga peste sama sa ulod, langaw o
“beanfly” o aphids, maggamit sa botanical pesticide o mga organikong pamatay-dangan.
8. Pwede na anihon ang mga bunga pag-abot sa 60-80 ka
adlaw gikan sa pagtanom ug ang mga laya nga bunga
pwede na anihon pag-abot sa tulo (3) ka bulan.

🌱✨ Calling all future agri-preneurs! ✨🌱

The Department of Agriculture will bring the Young Farmers Challenge Program Information Caravan to Samal Island City College Gymnasium this September 17, 2025 at 1:00-4:00pm.
This upcoming event will serve as an opportunity for students and young farmers to discover how the program can support their agribusiness ideas, provide financial assistance, and nurture their entrepreneurial spirit.

Get ready to be inspired and empowered as we plant the seeds of innovation and leadership among the youth of Samal Island!

An orientation on the eCourses offered by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) was conducted last June 11, 2025 for the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) On-the-Job Trainees (OJTs) from Mindanao State University – Marawi Main Campus by CAGRO-FITS Center Manager Merje Faye Enerio.

During the session, the trainees were thoroughly introduced to the wide array of online learning opportunities provided by ATI, which are designed to supplement their academic training with practical and research-based knowledge in various fields of agriculture.

As part of the orientation, the trainees were guided through the enrollment process and successfully registered for the course 'Basic Urban Gardening.' Upon completion of the course, each trainee was awarded a certificate of completion, marking an important step in their continuous learning and skill development.

The orientation was part of CAGRO’s ongoing efforts to equip future agricultural professionals with accessible, science-based, and up-to-date resources that will support their learning and professional growth throughout their OJT experience.

Showcasing various agricultural IEC materials, success stories, and technologies, the FITS Center continues to serve as a hub for knowledge sharing and farmer empowerment.

This participation highlights the center’s commitment to bringing timely and relevant information closer to Rural-Based Organizations in the Island Garden City of Samal.
