A lack of blood supply should never be a reason to lose your loved one.
Micah, aged 32 and just married, who had been getting frequent blood transfusions needed another 12 units of platelets. The hospital did not have a single unit to give her. Despite an international effort to rally a source of blood products and educate ourselves on the processes of blood donation in the Philippines, Micah bled into her brain and lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
We created a volunteer donor registry for our community to identify and gather groups of blood donors in case of emergencies. We encourage everyone to answer our community survey and register even if you don't know your blood type.
Our goal is to prevent our story from becoming another family tragedy.
