My recently managed patients with low back pain as given electrotherapy as an adjunct to the overall approach of rehab that includes therapeutic exercise and manual manipulation. Each patient is unique needing customized approach of treatment. After a PT comprehensive examination and evaluation, commonly seen cases are that of disc herniation / disc dissication, foramenal stenosis / nerve root impingement or compression / piriformis syndrome / sciatica, spondylosis, ligamentous strain or sprain / muscle sprain / muscle spasms / hamstrings and quadriceps tightness / disuse atrophy / weakness, postural instability, lumbo sacral angle instability, work-related ergonomics on pain aetiology, scoliosis, post-op pain with muscle guarding and limited ROM, fibromyalgia or myofascial pain syndrome / complex regional pain syndrome and rarely spondylolisthesis and organ damage referred pain.

Keeping at it after significant recovery and independence in ADL, patient increases up to high intensity training while retaining some old modalities to enhance efficacy of electrotherapy.
