The program opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Joel H. Buenaventura, MPH, Chairperson of PMHN, who emphasized that โEvidence must lead, policy must follow.โ Also present at the event are key partners from the Department of Science and Technology, the University of the Philippines Manila โ College of Public Health, the International Organization for Migration, and the DMW โ Institute for Advanced and Strategic Studies on Migration and Development, represented by Director Maria Teresa Delos Santos.
The symposium highlights discussions on bridging global and national priorities in migration health research, advancing migration health policy through risk, access, and climate justice, and catalyzing mental health policy for migrants. Representing the OFW Hospital are Dr. Maria Noreen P. Mendoza and Ms. Honey Grace R. Abella, RN, attending as participants. Supporting the event through medical services and free consultations are the SIGLA Wellness TeamโDr. Wilson Dale Salamanca, Ms. Karell Navarro, RN, and Ms. Mylene Raquid, RN. From the Strategic Communication Unit, Ms. Patricia Malonzo and Mr. John Paul Sarmiento are present to assist participants and introduce the various services offered by the OFW Hospital.
This symposium underscores the importance of research in guiding policymakers to better understand the gaps, challenges, and opportunities in ensuring access to quality health services for migrants and their families.
