NUITRITION MONTH CELEBRATION 2024 - Culminating Activity

GUIDELINES FOR COOKING COMPETITION FOR NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION
1. ELIGIBILITY
• Open to different organizations in Barangay Buenavista.
• Teams or group may consist of 3 – 5 members.
2. THEME
“Health and Nutritious Dishes: Sarap at sustansya mula sa ating bakuran”
3. REGISTRATION
• Team may Register until July 29, 2024 - Monday (Until 10:00 am) at Barangay Health and Nutrition Center. (The First 7 teams to register will be included in our cooking competition)
• Upon registration, each team must submit a list of ingredients and a brief description of their dish.
4. INGREDIENTS AND EQUIPMENT
• All ingredients must be fresh and of high quality (especially ingredients that can bee seen in the backyard or home garden)
• Teams are responsible for bringing their own cooking equipment, utensils and cooking facilities (stove, oven, etc,)
5. RECIPE REQUIREMENTS
• Dishes should highlight the use of nutritious ingredients especially ingredients that can be found in the backyard or home garden.
• Each dish must include at least 3 food groups (GO, GROW AND GLOW)
• Teams should avoid using excessive salt, sugar, seasoning (such us magic sarap, ajinomoto, and other commercialized flavor enhancer)
6. TIME LIMIT
• Teams will be given a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes to prepare, cook and plate their dishes (all the ingredients should be prepared during the competition proper)
• An additional 15 minutes will be allocated for setting up before the competition starts.
7. JUDGING CRITERIA
• Taste - 30%
(Overall flavor, and palatability of the dish)
• Nutrition - 25%
(Use of healthy ingredients ad adherence to the theme)
• Presentation - 20%
(Visual Appeal and creativity on plating)
• Originality - 15%
(Creativity and innovation in the recipe)
• Cleanliness and Hygiene - 10%
(Cleanliness in the work area and proper food handling)
• TOTAL - 100%
8. HYGIENE AND SAFETY
• Teams must maintain cleanliness in their cooking area
• Proper food safety and hygiene practices must be followed at all times (Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate cooking attire including apron and hairnets)
9. PLATING AND PRESENTATION
• Each team must prepare at least two identical plates for judging.
• Plates should be presented with attention to detail and creativity.
10. SUBMISSION
• Dishes must be presented to the judges at the designated submission time.
• Late submission will result in point deductions (minus 2 points from the overall score)
11. PRIZES
• Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams
o 1st Prize (Champion) - 3,000 pesos and a certificates
o 2nd Prize - 2,000 pesos and a certificates
o 3rd Prize - 1,000 pesos and a certificates
o Consolation Prize - 500 pesos (each team)
12. GENERAL CONDUCT
• Teams must demonstrate sportsmanship and respect towards other participants, facilitators and judges.
• Any form of cheating or misconduct will result in disqualifications.
• THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES IS FINAL AND BINDING.
