Sa pagdiriwang ng World Immunization Week, ipinapaalala ang kahalagahan ng pagbabakuna bilang isang ligtas at epektibong paraan upang mapalakas ang resistensya at mapangalagaan ang kalusugan ng pamilya at komunidad.

Samahan natin si Dr. Gregorio Leonardo, Pediatrician at Neonatalogist, sa pagbabahagi ng kaalaman tungkol sa importansya ng immunization.

Dr. Peña-Dizon brings a wealth of expertise in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with specialized fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Advanced Gynecologic Surgery. Whether it is guiding mothers through pregnancy or performing complex, high-precision laparoscopic procedures, her patient-centered approach ensures the highest standard of care in even the most challenging clinical settings.

Expertise and Professional Background
Her clinical focus includes minimally invasive gynecology, utilizing advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic techniques to ensure faster recovery and minimal scarring for her patients. She is also highly skilled in complex pelvic surgery, providing specialized care for high-risk gynecologic and obstetric cases.

Dr. Peña-Dizon’s impressive academic and professional journey includes completing her fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Advanced Gynecologic Surgery at East Avenue Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Resident during her residency. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute as a Cum Laude graduate and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Sciences from the University of the Philippines Manila, where she also graduated Cum Laude. Throughout her training, she has been recognized with numerous honors, including being named the Most Outstanding Intern in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center officially ignited the spirit of camaraderie and competition as we kicked off Sportsfest 2026 last May 5! The St. Bernadette Hall was filled with vibrant energy as our dedicated healthcare professionals and staff traded their scrubs and uniforms for jerseys.

The afternoon was packed with unforgettable highlights:
The Royal Arrival: A stunning ramp and introduction of our candidates for Mr. & Ms. Mt. Carmel 2026, showcasing the grace and charisma of our medical community.

Special Performances: The crowd was treated to a spectacular show, featuring a soulful song number from our talented employees and a high-energy dance routine from the Sports Committees and Heads.

A Grand Processional: A colorful entrance of our athletes and the spirited introduction of the Sports Committee.
The Lighting of the Torch: A symbolic moment led by our Team Captains, officially declaring the games open.

Chant & Yell Competition: A showcase of creativity and team pride that set the bar high for the rest of the season.

All-Star Exhibition: An action-packed Mixed Volleyball game that proved our team is just as skilled on the court as they are in the hospital!

Huge congratulations to Dr. Ma. Rosario Teresa Saylo for securing 2nd Place in the Analytical Retrospective Oral Presentation at the 55th Annual Congress of the Philippine College of Physicians! 🏆✨

Her research, "Comparative Evaluation of Early Warning and Severity Scores... in Predicting Septic Shock, Mortality and Organ Failure among Elderly Sepsis Patients," co-authored by Dr. Mary Rose Anne Lacanin, is a testament to the dedication and excellence within our Internal Medicine department.

We are incredibly proud of this outstanding achievement!

Ang dementia ay isang kondisyon na nagdudulot ng unti-unting paghina ng memorya, pag-iisip, at kakayahang mag-function sa araw-araw, at hindi ito normal na bahagi ng pagtanda.

Habang tumatanda tayo, mas mahalagang alagaan hindi lang ang ating katawan, kundi pati ang ating utak. Simpleng gawain tulad ng gardening ay napatunayang nakatutulong sa pagpapababa ng risk ng dementia, dahil pinagsasabay nito ang physical activity, mental stimulation, at relaxation.

Ngunit hindi dito nagtatapos ang pag-iingat. Ang tamang lifestyle, sapat na tulog, healthy diet, at regular na check-up ay may malaking papel sa pagpapanatili ng malinaw na pag-iisip.

A Community Outreach Program was successfully conducted last May 6, 2026, in Mabalacat City, in cooperation with the Department of Pediatrics.

The activity brought simple joys and support to the community, where children and families were given meals and food packs, essential items for children, medicines, ice cream, and slippers. Beyond the items shared, the day was filled with smiles, gratitude, and moments of genuine connection with the community.

We would like to extend our special appreciation to Dr. Beverly Alfonso, Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Outreach Coordinator, for her leadership and dedication in making this activity possible. We also thank Ms. Angelica Anicete, Head of Human Resources, together with all doctors, staff, and volunteers who generously shared their time, effort, and compassion for the success of this outreach program.

Your collective kindness truly made a difference in the lives of many families.
Together, we continue to reach out, serve, and bring care closer to those who need it most.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center proudly congratulates Dr. Ma. Janica Norvy P. Valencia, Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident, for her outstanding achievement at the OBRAS 2026 Research Proposal Presentation Contest.

Representing our OB-GYN Department, Dr. Valencia secured 1st Place with her study, “The Effect of Oral Probiotics on Return of Bowel Function in Post-Cesarean Patients in a Tertiary Hospital: An Open-Label Randomized Controlled Trial.”

We also recognize her mentors, Dr. Regina Vitug and Dr. Karen Padilla, for their guidance and support throughout this remarkable accomplishment.
