FIRST MOLAR- Bakit lagi unang nasisira?

Hindi normal, Pero madalas na unang nasisira or nagkakaroon ng caries ang mga Permanent first molars.

Bakit?

Humans are still evolving, and the proof is hidden inside our own mouths. Scientists have discovered that our faces are slowly becoming smaller over generations, and this shrinkage leaves less space for certain teeth—especially wisdom teeth. Long ago, our ancestors had larger jaws because their diet was tough and raw, full of roots, nuts, and uncooked meat. Bigger jaws were necessary to chew this food, and wisdom teeth had plenty of room to erupt. But as humans learned to cook and process food, chewing became easier, and our jaw size began to shrink.

The problem is that evolution works slowly. Even though our jaws have reduced in size, our genes still try to form the same number of teeth. This mismatch causes wisdom teeth to erupt with no proper space, leading to impaction, swelling, and pain. In fact, recent studies show that more and more people are being born without wisdom teeth altogether—a sign that evolution is actively reshaping us.

What seems like just a dental problem is actually part of a bigger scientific story: our anatomy is changing before our eyes. The disappearance of wisdom teeth may be one of the clearest signs that human evolution never really stopped.

RCT or bunot lang ang solusyon. 🩺

Treatment for this:

1. Root Canal

“Doc di ba nakaka cancer ang root canal?” - kakatiktok mo yan!

2. Bunot
Basta make sure na after bunutan ireplace ang missing tooth by means of pustiso or fixed bridge o pwede ring implant.

To avoid problems like this, make sure to visit your licensed dentist. Yun lang, byeeee~ 🦷

Fact ✅

Fact ✅

When patients hear the word “radiation,” it often causes unnecessary concern. However, modern dental X-rays are among the safest medical imaging tools used today. The amount of radiation is extremely small—comparable to everyday sources we barely notice. For example:

Eating a banana exposes you to natural radiation from potassium; a single dental X-ray delivers about the same amount as eating a few bananas.

Spending a few minutes in sunlight actually exposes you to more radiation than a dental X-ray.

A short airplane flight exposes you to several times more radiation than a full set of dental X-rays.

Advances in technology have made dental X-rays even safer. Older film-based X-rays required higher radiation doses, but today’s digital sensors reduce exposure by up to 90% while producing clearer, more detailed images. These improvements help dentists catch problems earlier and treat them more effectively.

Dentists also take multiple safety measures to protect you, including using lead aprons, thyroid collars, and strictly following the ALARA principle—keeping radiation “As Low As Reasonably Achievable.” This means X-rays are only taken when necessary for diagnosis or treatment planning, never without a clear purpose.

In short, the radiation from dental X-rays is minimal, carefully controlled, and far outweighed by the benefits of early detection. Rather than posing a risk, dental X-rays are a vital tool for maintaining your teeth, jaw, and overall health.

Periapical Abscess:
This type of abscess forms at the root tip of the tooth, often due to untreated tooth decay, dental trauma, or prior dental work.

Periodontal Abscess:
This abscess develops in the gums and supporting bone structures around the tooth. It's commonly associated with periodontal disease (gum disease), where pockets form between the teeth and gums.

Gingival Abscess:
This is a specific type of periodontal abscess that is limited to the gums and does not affect the tooth or surrounding bone.

Why a tooth with deep caries hurts so badly?

When a cavity goes deep into the tooth, the pain it causes is not just due to damage — it’s because the decay reaches the tooth’s nerve center, known as the dental pulp. This inner core contains blood vessels and sensitive nerve fibers that are directly connected to the brain.

As bacteria from the cavity invade the pulp, they trigger inflammation. But since the pulp is trapped inside a hard tooth structure, the swelling has nowhere to go. This builds pressure inside the tooth, causing the nerves to become compressed and irritated — leading to sharp, throbbing, or lingering pain.

The pain signal travels through the trigeminal nerve — the main nerve that connects your face, jaw, and teeth to the brain. Once this signal reaches the brainstem and sensory centers, it’s processed as severe tooth pain. This is also why pain from a single tooth can sometimes feel like it’s spreading to the jaw, ear, or head.

There are two main types of nerve fibers inside the pulp. The fast-acting A-delta fibers cause sharp, quick pain — like a shock from cold water. The slower C-fibers create a deeper, more constant ache — like a dull throb that doesn’t go away. When both are activated due to deep decay or infection, the pain becomes intense and difficult to manage.

This level of toothache usually means the pulp is infected or dying. At this point, a filling is no longer enough. The tooth may require root canal treatment to remove the damaged nerve and prevent further complications.

Understanding this connection between deep cavities, nerves, and the brain helps explain why dental pain can be so intense — and why early treatment is critical.
