🏆 DOUBLE VICTORY FOR RHU SAN JORGE! 🏆

We are proud to share that the Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (MESU) of RHU San Jorge received two prestigious awards during the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Summit held on July 10, 2025, organized by the Department of Health - Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH EVCHD).

👏 This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our Municipal Disease Surveillance Officer, Ms. Catherine Siena A. Nueva, and the entire MESU Team. Alongside her in receiving the awards was San Jorge’s DTTB, Dr. Dimple Marie T. Cabias.

🏅 RHU San Jorge is one of only 9 municipalities out of 26 LGUs in Samar recognized for achieving 100% Functional Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Systems, reaching Levels 1 to 3 of the Local Health System - Maturity Level for 2025.

📊 We are also honored to be chosen among the Top 5 municipalities that showcased their Poster Presentation for Best Practices, Outbreak Response, Innovations, and Data Utilization Reports.

💻 Thank you, DOH EVCHD, for also providing us with 1 Laptop Unit dedicated to Disease Surveillance Operations — a valuable tool that will further strengthen our work in public health.

This year’s recognition is especially meaningful as it marks our third consecutive year—having earned this distinction in 2022, 2023, and 2024. 🎉🍾

🎉Successful Grand Launching of PuroKalusugan in Brgy. Rawis, San Jorge, Samar! 💚💛💙💜

Last Friday, June 20, 2025, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of San Jorge proudly conducted the 3rd PuroKalusugan Grand Launching in Barangay Rawis, completing the rollout of PuroKalusugan in all three designated PK sites within the municipality! 🙌

This meaningful event was made possible through the strong partnership with the DOH Human Resources for Health, the dedicated support of Barangay Officials and Leaders, and the full cooperation of the local community. 🤝

As part of the day’s activities, PhilHealth Konsulta Caravan was also held in collaboration with LHIO Calbayog personnel. The initiative helped ensure that community members are registered with PhilHealth and can fully avail of the Konsulta Package Services, expanding access to primary health care. 🏥

In alignment with the goals of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP), the event also emphasized the importance of maternal and child health through a Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign, promoting proper breastfeeding practices and strengthening community support for breastfeeding mothers. 👶🤱

🩺 The event concluded with the provision of free health services, including:
✅ Medical consultations
✅ Prenatal checkups
✅ Routine immunizations
✅ Family Planning Services
✅ Distribution of free medicines

To ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of the PuroKalusugan Program, the team also facilitated a Barangay Action Planning session, where local leaders and stakeholders actively participated in identifying strategies to sustain and strengthen health and nutrition efforts in the community. 💡🤝

💚 With all three PuroKalusugan sites now successfully launched, RHU San Jorge remains committed to making quality healthcare more accessible and inclusive for every San Jorgehanon.

🟢🤍Purok Kalusugan Launching in Brgy. Cag-olo-olo! 🟢🤍

Last Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the Rural Health Unit, with the vital augmentation of DOH Human Resources and the strong community participation of Brgy. Cag-olo-olo—one of the GIDA barangays of San Jorge and a selected Purok Kalusugan (PK) Site—successfully launched the Purok Kalusugan Program! 💚

Following the launch, the team conducted a Health Caravan to deliver primary care services, including medical consultations, immunization, prenatal services, family planning services, distribution of free medicines, PhilHealth Konsulta Registration, and indoor and outdoor spraying at the local elementary school to protect children from the threat of Dengue. 🏫🦟

To ensure the program’s sustainability, community leaders, officials, and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) came together for a Barangay Action Planning session.

Together, we build healthier communities—one purok at a time! 💪✨

RHU San Jorge Launch PuroKalusugan in Brgy. Matalud 💚🤍💛

With the support of DOH’s Human Resources for Health, the Rural Health Unit of San Jorge successfully launched the PuroKalusugan program in Brgy. Matalud, one of the municipality’s Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) last June 3 to 5, 2025. Brgys. Cag-olo-olo and Rawis are also set for upcoming launches.

PuroKalusugan, a DOH initiative, aims to strengthen health services in underserved communities across the country—focusing on Eight Priority Health Outcomes as part of its Action Agenda 1: “Bawat Pilipino, Ramdam ang Kalusugan.”

At the same time, the team is expanding PhilHealth Konsulta registration coverage to improve access to primary care services, especially for residents in remote areas with limited healthcare access.

The team also conducted Barangay Action Planning and Barangay Health Board Meetings to improve health leadership and governance. In addition, essential health services were delivered to other GIDA barangays in the upland cluster, including Brgys. Libertad, Cabugao, Cagtoto-og, and Gayondato.
