“Bato sa bato” or “ Kidney Stones” ay isang uri ng karamdaman kung saan namumuo ang mga “crystals” sa ating mga kidneys or sa daluyan ng ihi. Pag ito ay sumobra na sa laki, nagiging sanhi ito ng hindi normal na pag-ihi natin. Kadalasan “ kumukudkod “ ang mga “ crystals “ na ito sa ating kidneys or sa daluyan ng ihi, at nasusugat ang ating mga kidneys or daluyan ng ihi. Ito ang dahilan kung kaya ang mga meron nito, nagiging mapula na ang ihi, dahil sa possibleng dugo kasama na ng ihi sanhi ng sugat sa sa apektadong organ ng katawan.

This is an IJ (internal jugular) catheter, a temporary access to hemodialysis.

March is kidney awareness month, so as a hemodialysis nurse, I want to raise awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Some people with CKD have no symptoms, not until the CKD is advanced. This is why it's important to get checked as early as you can.

Creatine is a commonly used marker for assessing the function of the kidneys; a high level of creatine in the blood could indicate a kidney problem.

It's quite alarming that the number of patients being diagnosed with CKD in Lanao del Sur and neighboring cities is rising; the number is no joke. Most people that are diagnosed with CKD are teenagers and young adults, mainly because of their lifestyle.

This is a reminder for each one of us that we should be mindful of what we consume and not abuse using over-the-counter drugs when symptoms persist. Consult your physician, and please stop taking antibiotics prescribed by your neighbors.
