Our residents staged a wonderful play that ran for about an hour—including their own set changes behind the curtain!
Everything you see in the story was their idea: the names, the plot, and even the props. With just pieces of paper, they created a background they called “tarpapel,” tiny props like cellphones and condiments, and even a paper ambulance alongside a real wheelchair, hospital bed, and store setup. Their creativity turned simple things into something truly magical!
The story was about a boy named Luis, who once stole medicine for his sick mother but was helped by Mang Elias, a kind man running a small eatery. Years later, after losing his way, Luis turned his life around and became a doctor. When Mang Elias fell ill and could no longer pay his hospital bills, it was Dr. Luis who repaid the kindness by settling everything—showing that goodness always finds its way back.
Some of our residents barely spoke when they first came to us—some wouldn’t even look at us. That’s why it fills us with so much joy to see them now talking, expressing themselves, and even delivering lines on stage, whether short or long. Every word spoken is a big milestone, and a huge reason for us to be proud.
Our residents proudly titled their play “Pira-pirasong Pangarap” (Pieces of Dreams).
In the end, they received a standing ovation—tears of joy, claps of love, and hearts filled with pride. We couldn’t be prouder of each resident, both on stage and behind the curtain.
You are the main reason why we all keep going and continue to help people recover.
Sharing with you some of the clips and lines during the play.
