SIRANG ORGANIZATION (USWAG/ SUN RISE) is a citizen-led response to humanitarian and environmental crises brought about by natural and human-made disasters and calamities. In the face of inept government systems for disaster prevention, mitigation and response, our core methodology is Community-Based Disaster Management (CBDM) which relies on grassroots people empowerment, organizing, and capacity-
building. Alongside emergency response efforts, SIRANG ORGANIZATION employs long-term strategies and solutions to environmental plunder and climate change, mitigation, and adaptation. We respond according
to the felt and expressed
needs of the poorest
and least served
communities.
2. The mental health and
wellbeing of individuals
rest
on the
collective
survival
of communities. Women and
children are most vulnerable
among them. Psychosocial
therapy activities, grief
counseling, and debriefing--- the
process of allowing persons to
retell their stories as a method of
healing--- are real and concrete
needs that we address.
3. We promote restoration of
livelihoods through community
gardens, carry out genuine reforestation,
mobilizing indigenous and farming communities,
rehabilitate watersheds and denuded areas. Rainforestation means re-greening areas with endemic
species. THIS IS ONLY WHAT THE ORGANIZATION DO, SINCE WE DON'T HAVE FUND. ADVOCACY FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE
The reality of climate change stares us right in the face. Decades of exploitation and extraction in REGION 8 bio-diverse natural resources has resulted to an almost irreversible state of destruction of the environment. Climate Justice is the people’s demand to decisively reverse this trend and envision a social order that upholds human rights, environmental conservation, and ecologically-
sound development.
