Stranger in My Own Name
I uncovered a truth hidden deep,
A chapter unknown, stirred from its sleep.
Their faces familiar, their voices strange,
Yet in their midst, everything felt out of range.
It wasn’t a homecoming, not what I dreamed—
More like a ghost returning, unseen.
I smiled through the quiet, through words unsaid,
Through stories they told, where I was misread.
I tried to belong, but I didn’t quite fit;
The harmony faded—I wasn’t part of it.
Tied by blood, but out of their view,
Not a daughter, just someone they once knew.
Still, I’m not bitter; the truth set me free,
It lifted a weight and let me just be.
Because even without them, I’ve come so far,
Guided by love that carried my scars.
The family who raised me taught me to stand,
And a second family held out their hand.
They gave me strength, they showed me the way,
Through the hardest nights and the longest days.
Now, just a few steps, and I’ll reach my dream—
To become the doctor I’ve always seen.
Not for those who were never there,
But for the ones who truly cared.
So I’m grateful now, no anger remains,
For the path I walked and all its gains.
Though I don’t belong where my bloodline flows,
I’ve found my home where real love grows.
