A CALL TO SERVICE
Dear Doctors, Nurses, Medtechs, Dentists, Midwives, Sanitary Inspectors, Surveillance Team, and the rest of the healthcare team...
The next several days will be the litmus test of how true we are to our calling; whether the oath we had taken that very day we chose to serve the general public still holds true and clear. Confirmed cases are continuously on the rise and people around us are scared, not really sure what to do and who to believe. It is up to us now to either fan their flame or quench it by remaining calm and composed. No false promises, no fake claims. Just dedication to the task at hand.
Our Department of Health has been embattled. They can only do so much within their power. We can point our fingers and blame other people for their lapses. But in the end, reality will tell us, even the most poweful nations bowed low to this disease that is fast spreading. So let us rally to her side and lend our hand. The task is great and the future is still unknown. Let us do what needs to be done and act now.
This epidemic will either make or break us as a country or a human race. We can be among those who raise raucous and panic. Or we can be among those who just love to point fingers and then sit down and do nothing. But we can also choose to let this be a defining moment of our lives, our medical careers. While the recent series of events had seen the worse in us people, let this trying time bring out the best in all of us, the Filipino healthcare workers.
We will stand as one, together we will fight. We will beat this scourge. Yet even if we don't, God forbid, we'll show them that we went down swinging and never left anyone behind.
Laban na kung laban. Kaya basta sama-sama.
