ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS SAFE?

Eyelash extensions should be applied by an experienced aesthetician in a sanitary setting, with chemicals that are safe for your skin. This will reduce the risks that come with the procedure, namely: trauma to or infection of the eyelid or cornea; allergic reaction to the glue; and permanent or temporary loss of eyelashes. Inadequate hygiene can cause infection or damage to the eye during application. Ingredients in the glue can cause allergic reactions.

HOW TO USE THE AMSLER GRID

The Amsler grid is a simple square containing a grid pattern and a dot in the middle. It is used once a day, every day to show problem spots in your field of vision. Wearing any glasses you normally use to read, hold the grid 12 to 15 inches away from your face in good light. Cover one eye. Look directly at the center dot with your uncovered eye and keep your eye focused on it. While looking directly at the center dot, notice in your side vision if all grid lines look straight or if any lines or areas appear blurry, wavy, dark or blank. Follow the same steps with your other eye.

PREVENT EYE INJURIES IN CHILDREN

Have your children wear sports eye protectors made with polycarbonate lenses for baseball, basketball, football, racquet sports, soccer, and paintball. Keep all chemicals and sprays out of reach of small children. Practice safe use of common items that can cause serious eye injury, such as paper clips, pencils, scissors, bungee cords, wire coat hangers and rubber bands. Only purchase age-appropriate toys. Avoid projectile toys such as darts, bows and arrows, and missile-firing toys.
