Happy Nurse Day to all. ❣️
Paging Dr. Ego and Sir Superior: This is a Code Reality Check.”
You know the type.
Walks into the ward like they’re in a telenovela.
One eyebrow raised, one command shouted, zero awareness of what you’ve already survived this shift.
“Bakit wala pa ‘to? Bakit ganito? Bakit hindi pa tapos?”
Sir/Ma’am, you just arrived. We’ve been here since before the sun had a chance to judge us.
And let’s talk about the doctors with the God complex:
Suddenly it’s “Where’s the chart?”,
“I need the labs!”,
“Why are the vitals not updated?”
Meanwhile, you’re already on patient number seven, IV number five, and coffee cup number zero.
Respect is earned, not prescribed.
Your white coat doesn’t mean you’re royalty.
Your rank doesn’t mean we’re your robots.
We’re nurses, not note-takers.
Not personal assistants.
Not punching bags for your stress and misplaced arrogance.
You want updates? We got you.
You want a teammate? We’re in.
You want to yell, belittle, and blame without understanding the chaos we manage?
Then you’re the emergency.
Because here’s the truth:
Behind every patient that gets proper care,
Is a nurse who’s juggling orders, calming families, and keeping this place from turning into a full-blown meltdown.
And we’re doing it without the fancy stethoscope and the “MD” stitched on our chest.
Real talk:
A good superior uplifts.
A great doctor respects the whole team.
But the ones who treat people like pawns?
You’re not gods, you’re just overdue for a dose of humility.
To every nurse who’s been shouted at, blamed for delays, or treated like a servant:
Keep your head up.
Keep your chart tight.
And keep being the kind of professional they will never be, no matter how long their title is.
Because the ward runs on teamwork,
Not tantrums.
