HPV vaccine, protection from developing head and neck cancer? 🧐

Q: Can the HPV vaccine protect me from getting head and neck cancer?

A: Yes! The HPV vaccine is highly effective in preventing infections from high-risk HPV types, including HPV-16, which causes most HPV-related head and neck cancers.

The vaccine is recommended for both males and females, ideally before exposure to the virus. However, adults up to age 45 may still benefit from vaccination.

Q:How does having HPV affect the chances of being cured from cancer?

A: The good news is that HPV-positive head and neck cancers generally respond better to treatment than HPV-negative cancers. Patients with HPV-related cancers have:
🔹 Higher survival rates
🔹 Better response to radiation and chemotherapy
🔹 Lower risk of cancer recurrence

Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) can cause
Head and Neck Cancer.

Q: What is HPV, and how does it cause head and neck cancer?

A: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus transmitted through intimate contact. While most HPV infections clear on their own, some high-risk types can cause cancers, including those in the head and neck (especially the throat and tonsils).

HPV-related head and neck cancer is often linked to HPV type 16 and is more common in non-smokers and younger individuals.
