SIMC Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative The SIMC - Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative promotes, protects, and supports breastfeeding.

The SIMC-Breastfeeding Support Group is managed by the Southern Isabela Medical Center Mother Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative Committee and is committed to educating, protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding globally, using the Ten Steps approach complements and broadens the scope of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF guidelines. Its vision is to strengthen Southern Isabel

HAKAB 'TA 2025 at SIMC! - In celebration of Breastfeeding Awareness Month, Southern Isabela Medical Center (SIMC) - Mother- Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Committee proudly participated in HAKAB 'TA 2025: One Latch, One Love, One Nation – Feed with Love, held today at the SIMC OPD and OB-Gyne Ward, in cooperation with the Philippine Pediatric Society and the Santiago City Medical Society. This meaningful event brought together over 28 mothers who simultaneously breastfed their babies — a powerful act of unity in advocating for exclusive breastfeeding, maternal empowerment, and optimal child health.

Worldwide, exclusive breastfeeding has the potential to save more than half a million children's lives every year. The event also emphasized the importance of proper complementary feeding to ensure the healthy growth and development of infants and young children.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated healthcare workers, empowered mothers, and all the advocates who made this event a success. Together, let us continue to support, protect, and promote breastfeeding — anytime, anywhere.

The SIMC Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) Committee successfully conducted the Generic Training of Facilitators from July 7 to 9, 2025, at the SIMC 9th floor of the Tower A Building for staff, including dietitians, midwives, nurses, and doctors. The three-day training equipped healthcare workers to effectively promote, protect, and support breastfeeding as skilled trainers in both hospital and community settings.

Supporting breastfeeding is a shared responsibility, and through education and empowerment, we move one step closer to creating a truly baby-friendly healthcare system.

Southern Isabela Medical Center, Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Committee together with Santiago City Health Office conducted a Lactation Management Training held on May 28, 29, and 30 at Santiago City Hall, Mayor's Office, Conference Room.

This training aims to extend and strengthen the Lactation Management in the community with the help of Local Government Unit of Santiago City and City Health Office.

Face-to-Face Lectures are done last May 28 and 29 2024.
Return Demonstrations was done on OPD, NICU and OB Ward last May 30, 2024.

Southern Isabela Medical Center, Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Committee together with Cagayan Valley Center for Health and Development conducted a Lactation Management Training held on March 20, 21, and 22, 2024 at Zen Hotel, Santiago City, Isabela.

The participants are from Cagayan, Batanes, Quirino, Santiago City, Dinapigue, Ilagan, Nueva Vizcaya, Cauayan, Angadanan, San Mariano, San Manuel, Mallig, Naguilian, that is under the DOH Region 2.

This training aims to extend and strengthen the Lactation Management in the community with the help of Rural Health Unit, Provincial Health Office and City Health Office.

Online lectures are done last March 20, 2024.
Face to Face Lecture are done last March 21, 2024
Return Demonstrations was done on OPD, NICU and OB Ward last March 22, 2024.
