The SIMC Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) Committee successfully conducted Lactation Management Training from October 8 to 10, 2025, at the 4th Floor Conference Room. This three-day training brought together dedicated healthcare professionals from SIMC and Callang General Hospital and Medical Center, united by a shared commitment to advancing breastfeeding support and advocacy within clinical and community settings.

The training aims to strengthen the capacity of frontline providers to deliver consistent, mother-centered lactation care—investing in a more sustainable, breastfeeding-friendly healthcare system where every mother is supported, every infant receives the best nutritional start in life, and every health worker becomes a confident advocate for optimal infant feeding practices.

The Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) Committee of SIMC successfully conducted Lactation Management Training from September 9 to 11, 2025, for SIMC staff and healthcare professionals from Gattaran Emergency Hospital.

The training featured interactive online lectures on September 9 and 10, followed by hands-on return demonstrations on September 11 across key clinical areas—Outpatient Department (OPD), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the OB Ward. These sessions were carefully designed to strengthen both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in breastfeeding support.

Breastfeeding is not merely a feeding choice—it is a vital foundation of infant and maternal health, providing optimal nutrition, boosting immunity, and reinforcing the emotional bond between mother and child. Through this initiative, SIMC reaffirms its commitment to fostering a breastfeeding-friendly culture across all levels of care, aligned with national and global health standards.

The SIMC Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) Committee successfully conducted Lactation Management Training from August 13 to 15, 2025, attended by SIMC staff and representatives from partner health facilities, including Villaroman Hospital, De Vera Medical Center, RHU San Mariano, RHU San Manuel, RHU Quirino, Cauayan Family Hospital, and Lyceum of Aparri.

The training featured online lectures on August 13–14, followed by return demonstrations on August 15 across the SIMC OPD, NICU, and OB-Gyne Ward.

This initiative equips healthcare workers with training skills to promote breastfeeding-friendly practices and improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

Ngayong Agosto ay ipinagdiriwang ng Southern Isabela Medical Center ang 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐅𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇. Ito ay isang mahalagang araw dahil pinapahalagahan nito ang benepisyo ng pagpapasuso para sa kalusugan ng ina at anak.
Dito itinalakay ang mga benepisyo ng breastmilk bilang pinakamalusog at ligtas na pagkain para sa mga sanggol, at ang pagkakaiba ng breastmilk at mga formulated na gatas.
Sa pangunguna ni Dr. Krizia Gail G. Balabbo, MPM, PHU Adviser kasama sina Ms. Emelie Gazzingan, RND, isang Nutritionist-Dietitian at Ms. Rhea Soriano mula sa SIMC - Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, isinagawa ang Bantay Edukasyon sa mga pasyente at bantay ng SIMC OPD.

The SIMC Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) Committee, represented by Ms. Marilou Espiritu, Ms. Emelie Gazzingan, Ms. Cheryl Baysa, and Ms. Rhea Soriano, actively participated in the first-ever Breastfeeding Summit with the theme "Prioritize Breastfeeding, Create Sustainable Support Systems," held on August 7, 2025, at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center - Multipurpose Hall, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

HAKAB 'TA 2025 at SIMC! - In celebration of Breastfeeding Awareness Month, Southern Isabela Medical Center (SIMC) - Mother- Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Committee proudly participated in HAKAB 'TA 2025: One Latch, One Love, One Nation – Feed with Love, held today at the SIMC OPD and OB-Gyne Ward, in cooperation with the Philippine Pediatric Society and the Santiago City Medical Society. This meaningful event brought together over 28 mothers who simultaneously breastfed their babies — a powerful act of unity in advocating for exclusive breastfeeding, maternal empowerment, and optimal child health.

Worldwide, exclusive breastfeeding has the potential to save more than half a million children's lives every year. The event also emphasized the importance of proper complementary feeding to ensure the healthy growth and development of infants and young children.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated healthcare workers, empowered mothers, and all the advocates who made this event a success. Together, let us continue to support, protect, and promote breastfeeding — anytime, anywhere.

The SIMC Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) Committee successfully conducted the Generic Training of Facilitators from July 7 to 9, 2025, at the SIMC 9th floor of the Tower A Building for staff, including dietitians, midwives, nurses, and doctors. The three-day training equipped healthcare workers to effectively promote, protect, and support breastfeeding as skilled trainers in both hospital and community settings.

Supporting breastfeeding is a shared responsibility, and through education and empowerment, we move one step closer to creating a truly baby-friendly healthcare system.
