Inag CafΓ© is a unique coffee establishment rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the Tagakaulo tribe in Malungon, Sarangani Province. The cafΓ© offers a one-of-a-kind experience by serving high-quality Robusta coffee that is locally produced, processed, and celebrated as a symbol of cultural pride and self-sufficiency. The name "Inag," which means "light" in the Tagakaulo dialect, holds deep significance as it honors the memory of the owner's late baby, symbolizing hope, resilience, and the pursuit of a brighter future.
Inag CafΓ©βs journey began in September 2023 when the owner, Babylyne S. Takyawan, a proud Tagakaulo, coffee connoisseur, and member of the Inag Farmers Association, set out to create a platform for coffee farmers to showcase their hard work and craftsmanship in single-origin coffee. From humble beginnings with manual roasting at home and pop-up coffee shops, Inag CafΓ© has grown into a beloved local establishment with a dedicated space to welcome coffee lovers in Malungon. Thanks to the exceptional coffee-making talent of Babylyne and her husband, Rennyboy Takyawan, they offer an authentic, high-quality Robusta coffee experience that fosters a deep appreciation for locally-produced coffee among locals, tourists, and visitors alike. Their first cafΓ©, located near the Sarangani Provincial Hospital - Malungon, was frequently visited by hospital staff, patients, visitors, and LGU staff. In their first year of operation, they generated a gross revenue of β±1,420,000.00 and created four jobs through the new coffee venture.
With a steady influx of customers and feedback from friends, colleagues, and patrons, they opened another branch in February 2024, strategically located along the national highway to cater to even more customers. This new branch has since become a popular spot for travelers, passersby, regular patrons, and students, as itβs near a national high school. They also began offering delightful treats and sweets that pair perfectly with the bittersweet taste of coffee, along with a wider variety of hot and iced beverages.
In February 2024, Inag CafΓ© was invited by DTI Sarangani Province, through the Negosyo Center Malungon, to join the Kapatid Mentor Me - Money Market Encounter (KMME-MME) Online Program. Ms. Babylyne joined the 2nd batch, which ran from July to September 2024. Through her diligence and commitment to the mentoring program, she completed the 10-module sessions, presented her Business Improvement Plan, and graduated with distinction awards.
