๐Ÿ”ฅ BEAT THE HEAT: FUN TRIVIA! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Did you know that?
COOL COLORS REALLY WORK๐Ÿ‘š๐ŸŽฝ

Fact check! Light-colored clothes reflect up to 90% of sunlight, while dark clothes absorb up to 80% of heat. Thatโ€™s why wearing white or pastels helps you stay cooler!

๐Ÿ”ฅ HEAT-RELATED DISEASES

1. HEAT CRAMPS
Painful muscle spasms in arms, legs, or stomach โ€“ caused by losing too much salt and water through sweating.

2. HEAT EXHAUSTION
Body overheats with heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, and weakness. If not treated, it can get worse fast.

3. HEAT STROKE
LIFE-THREATENING! Body temp over 40ยฐC, no sweating, confusion or fainting. Can damage organs like brain or heart.

4. DEHYDRATION
Body loses more water than it takes in โ€“ causes thirst, dry mouth, and weakness even if you donโ€™t feel thirsty.

5. SUNBURN & SKIN ISSUES
UV rays damage skin โ€“ causes redness, dryness, or blisters. Can also make skin age faster.

6. WORSENED HEALTH CONDITIONS
Heat makes heart disease, asthma, and high blood pressure more serious.

โœ… HOW TO AVOID

1. Drink water often (even if not thirsty)

2. Wear light, loose clothes and a hat

3. Stay indoors or in shade 10AMโ€“4PM

4. Keep rooms cool (use fans/AC or open windows)

5. Check on kids, elderly, and sick family/friends

6. Avoid leaving anyone in a parked car

Stay cool, stay safe! ๐Ÿ’ฆโ˜€๏ธ

With the extreme heat these past weeks, fish can spoil much faster if not handled properly. Practicing proper handling, keeping fish clean, and immediate chilling are more important than ever to maintain quality and prevent bacterial growth.

โš ๏ธ Consumers are also advised to handle and store fish properly, as poor temperature control can lead to scombroid poisoning or histamine poisoning, a foodborne illness caused by improperly stored fish.

๐Ÿ’ก Better handling means fresher fish, higher value, and safer food for everyone.

APRIL IS NATIONAL HEMOPHILIA AWARENESS MONTH

๐Ÿ’ก DID YOU KNOW?
Hemophilia doesnโ€™t make you bleed more than others โ€“ it makes you bleed longer. A small cut might take minutes or hours to stop instead of seconds.

โ“ WHAT IT IS
A rare genetic bleeding disorder where the blood doesnโ€™t clot properly. Even minor cuts or injuries can lead to prolonged bleeding, and internal bleeding (especially in joints or muscles) can occur spontaneously.

๐Ÿ“Š TWO MAIN TYPES
โ€ข Hemophilia A (80% of cases): Deficiency in clotting factor VIII
โ€ข Hemophilia B (20% of cases): Deficiency in clotting factor IX โ€“ sometimes called "Christmas disease" (named after the first patient identified with it, Stephen Christmas)

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ INHERITANCE
Passed down through the X chromosome, so it affects males more often. Females can be carriers and may sometimes have mild symptoms.

โš ๏ธ SYMPTOMS VARY
Range from mild (rare bleeding episodes) to severe (frequent spontaneous bleeding). Common signs include:

โ€ข Easy bruising

โ€ข Prolonged bleeding from cuts

โ€ข Nosebleeds that wonโ€™t stop

โ€ข Joint pain or swelling

๐Ÿ’Š TREATMENT
Focuses on replacing the missing clotting factor through intravenous infusions โ€“ either regularly to prevent bleeding, or as needed when bleeding occurs.

๐Ÿพ MARCH IS RABIES AWARENESS MONTH ๐Ÿพ

Important Reminders for All Paw-Rents!
โœ… YOUR FUR BABYโ€™S SAFETY STARTS WITH YOU

1. ๐Ÿ“… VACCINATE ON TIME โ€“ NO EXCUSES!
Rabies shots arenโ€™t optional โ€“ theyโ€™re life-saving. Puppies/kittens get their first dose at 3 months old, then booster shots every year (or as your vet recommends).

2. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ KEEP THEM SECURED

โ€ข Always leash your dog when outdoors โ€“ this prevents fights with other animals and stops them from wandering into risky areas

โ€ข Keep cats indoors or in a secure enclosure โ€“ free-roaming kitties are more likely to get bitten by infected wildlife

โ€ข Fence your yard to keep stray or wild animals away from your pets

3.๐Ÿฉน KNOW WHAT TO DO IF THEREโ€™S A BITE
If your pet gets bitten by another animal โ€“ or you get bitten by any animal:

โ€ข For your pet: Immediately clean the wound with soap and water, then take them to the vet RIGHT AWAY. Even if theyโ€™re vaccinated, they may need care.

โ€ข For humans: Wash the bite thoroughly with soap and water for at least 10 minutes, then go to the hospital or health center immediately. Rabies is 100% fatal if not treated โ€“ but 100% preventable with prompt care.

4.๐Ÿค HELP KEEP YOUR COMMUNITY SAFE

โ€ข Report stray animals acting strangely to your local barangay or animal control

โ€ข Support spay/neuter programs โ€“ fewer strays mean lower rabies risk

โ€ข Share rabies safety tips with friends and neighbors who have pets

5.๐Ÿ’ก REMEMBER: RABIES AFFECTS EVERYONE
Itโ€™s not just about dogs and cats โ€“ bats, raccoons, mongooses, and even farm animals can carry rabies. Protecting your pets protects your whole family.
"As paw-rents, weโ€™re responsible for keeping our fur babies โ€“ and our communities โ€“ safe. Letโ€™s do our part to beat rabies for good! ๐Ÿ•โค๏ธ๐Ÿˆ"

๐Ÿพ RABIES AWARENESS MONTH! ๐Ÿพ
Paw-rents โ€“ REMEMBER:
โœ… Vaccinate on time
โœ… Leash up outdoors
โœ… No stray animal contact
โœ… Wash bites FAST

Save lives โ€“ share this!

โš ๏ธ MARCH IS DROWNING PREVENTION MONTH โš ๏ธ

Do your part โ€“ be water smart!

5 Bโ€™S OF WATER SAFETY

โœ… 1. BANTAY โ€“ Always keep watch, no distractions allowed
โœ… 2. BIDA SALBABIDA โ€“ Wear proper life jackets (not just toys!)
โœ… 3. BAWAL ALAK โ€“ No drinking before or while near water
โœ… 4. BARRIER โ€“ Use fences, covers, or nets to block access
โœ… 5. BYSTANDER INTERVENTION โ€“ Know what to do if someoneโ€™s in trouble

๐Ÿ’ก WATER SAFETY TRIVIA

YOU HAVE JUST 60 SECONDS TO RESPOND

Drowning can cause irreversible brain damage in as little as 4โ€“6 minutes. When someone is struggling in water, you have less than a minute to get them out and start care.

Every second counts โ€“ quick action is the difference between life and death.
