06 APRIL 2024| WOMEN'S MONTH CELEBRATION with a Theme: TOYO "Triumph Over Youth Obstruction"

To our incredible celebration for women's event held on April 6, 2024, with the lead of our interim president of LAGSIQ Hon. James Andrew F. Gorospe together with the LAGSIQ interim officers. We were privileged to have the inspiring Hon. Brylle Deeiah Tumarong-Quio and Ms. Felice T. Basong as our guest speakers. Their words on the theme 'Triumph Over Youth Obstruction' resonated deeply with all of us.

Warmest congratulations to all our winners from the province of Siquijor's different peer networks, for winning the singing and oratorical competition.

We also acknowledge the presence of our esteemed Provincial Population Officer Mr. Hilmer B. Ongue, who graced the occasion and also one of the judges for the singing and oratorical competition. Together, we celebrated the strength, resilience, and triumph of women. Here's to more empowering events like this!

Starting the 2024 with new learnings and experiences!!🥳

Warmest CONGRATULATIONS to all nineteen Youth Advocates all over Siquijor for completing the activity. The said event happened purposely to educate youth advocates and spread awareness about the existing sexual risky behaviours, common among youth like teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS/STIs, Mental Health and etc. It also tackled things such as leadership, life skills and how to handle emotions that are immensely relevant to the growth and development of the youth. Leaders and Advocates for Greater Siquijor (LAGSIQ) is ready to listen and to speak for you.

We would like to thank our Provincial Population Officer- Sir Hilmer Ongue, for supporting this program, our Provincial Health Officer- Dr. Jemma Fortich.

To our guest speakers Boardmember Brylle Deeiah Tumarong Quio, SSC- Instructor Mr. Esper Manginsay and to Ms. Felice Basong SSC- Guidance Counselor, thank you for sharing your knowledge to our peer educators.

We would also like to thank our exceptional facilitators, Niño Monticod, Krizzah Mitch Ocay, Jeremy Jumawan, Tristan Fernandez, Jamaicah Tumapon, together with the office staff of Boardmember Brylle Deeiah Tumarong Quio, Shayla Jumawan, Cris Riel Arnejo, and Diane Stezanie Bation. The Commission on Population Region VII together with RHU Siquijor, POPCOM Designate Officer, Mr Hilmer B. Ongue, Mr. Carl Dave Ang and LAGSIQ Facilitators successfully conducted Adolescent Health and Development Program Ladderized Training Level I-IV at GAD Building ,Poblacion, Siquijor, Siquijor.

The ladder-like Peer Education Training Module for adolescents is an initiative of POPCOM VII under the Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) Program. The training is composed of 4 Levels
Level 1 - Peer Volunteer (Open Space)
Level 2 - Peer Facilitating (Life Skills)
Level 3 - Peer Education (ASRH)
Level 4 - Peer Interpersonal Communication

Part of the training is the planning wherein per group were given the chance to have an intensive discussions with their groupmates on the possibles PPA’s next year as they will graduate as peer educators. What PPAs can they implement to help the community. Aside from the lectures, they also had drama presentations on how do adults perceive the young one’s nowadays.

Once again, We would like to thank our Municipal Population Officer, Ms. Maureen Jumawan, Mr. Hilmer Ongue, Provincial Population Officer, LGU-Siquijor headed by Mayor Richard Quezon, SP Chairperson Committee on Health, BM Brylle Deeiah Tumarong, and LAGSIQ Peer Educators, for helping Sir Carl of POPCOM VII to facilitate the training.

And our heartfelt thanks to POPCOM REGION VII headed by Atty Bruce Ragas together with Sir Carl for the successful conduct of all the programs and activities in the Province of Siquijor.

📍AUGUST 18-19 ,2022 || Teen Center Management Training

The POPCOM Region 7 headed by Atty Bruce Ragas successfully conducted the first Teen Center Management training in St. Mark Hotel, Cebu City.

The said two days training was attended by our POPCOM Designate Officer- Sir Hilmer Ongue together with the Leaders and Advocates (LAGSIQ) represented by Hon. Rica Amahit, Siquijor Youth Advocate (SIQYA) headed by Jeremy Jumawan and Larena Youth Care Organization represented by Johanes Cris Duazo along with us were the different Municipal POPCOM officers.

It was formally opened by our POPCOM Regional Director Atty. Bruce Ragas. During the DAY 1, there were different lectures such as but not limited to;

📌 Teen Center Management given by the POPCOM Research And Data Management Focal Sir Micheal Pacios;
📌 Comprehensive Sexuality Education by Dr. Quirico Sumampong of DEP-ED

📌 Discussion about CSE ARH Convergence Orientation tackled by Technical Services Chief Ms. Malou Garillos

In Day 2, we had series of lectures and activities;
📌Adolescent Health Development Program and function of Teen Center by DOH Region nurse Ma'am Shiela Gonzales
📌Sharing of teen center yearly plan per LGU as well as sharing best practices in our respective Teen Center’s

We would like to thank our ever supportive Committee on health Chairman SP Board Member Brylle Deeiah D. Tumarong for your unending support and love to our youth volunteers; To our very active POPCOM Designate officer Sir Hilmer Ongue for making this memorable training happened; To the IPHO headed by Dr. George Walthrode Opay and also to the POPCOM Region 7 for welcoming us.

This youth camp is participated by 8 different organization namely: Siquijor Youth Advocates ,LYCO ,B-lievers , PSYC , PYEL , MYLA , LAYSHO , and Yes for Lazi .
We would like to thank our POPCOM designate officer Sir Hilmer Ongue , IPHO headed by Doc. George Walthrode Opay , SK Provincial Federated President Hon. SK Brylle Deeiah D. Tumarong and our Resource Speaker Sir Dave Carl Black Ang.
