✨ What is Blue Light?
We know that excessive screentime can negatively impact eye health. . Blue light is part of the visible light spectrum — and prolonged exposure can lead to digital eye strain, sleep disturbances, blurry vision and long-term retinal concerns.

✨Here are some tips to help our eyes to the over exposure of blue light:

✅Follow the 20-20-20 rule
Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your eyes a break.

✅Blinking exercises
Conciously blink frequently to keep your eyes lubricated while using your digital device

✅Adjust screen brightness and contrast
Adjust the brightness of your digital device to minimize glare and eyestrain

✅Maintain proper posture and viewing distance
Sit at a comfortable distance(not too close)

✅Take a regular break
Get up and move around

✅Consider specialized lenses or anti-glare screen
It can help reduce eye strain if your work lets you spend alot of time with your digital screens

✅Schedule regular eye exams
A comprehensive eye exam can detect any potential issues early on

✨And as an eyecare provider, we always advice to spend at least 2 hours outdoor specially for kids. It is beneficial for our eyes and help reduce posible nearsightedness.

Myopia is the medical name for nearsightedness, which means that you can see objects that are near clearly but have difficulty seeing objects that are farther away.

For example, you cannot read highway signs until they are a few feet away.

Check if your kids squint their eyes or sitting close to read the print written on the TV screen, your child might need a vision check.

💡UNDERSTANDING PROGRESSIVE MYOPIA💡

🧐 Parents - does your child often need stronger glasses to see better in the long distance - every year?

This can be known as progressive myopia, and it’s more than a mild inconvenience….

Myopia (short-sightedness) that progresses unchecked can lead to serious eye health complications later in life, such as:

‼️Retinal detachment
‼️Cataracts
‼️Glaucoma …. Or … Even …
‼️🚨Vision loss / Blindness 🚨

✅ But there is GOOD news:

💡Modern myopia treatments can slow or even stabilise this progression…..

👁️ Options like low-dose atropine eye drops, special glasses, specialised soft contact lenses or orthokeratology lenses (Ortho-K) are clinically proven to help protect your child’s long-term vision.

🔑 Don’t wait until the prescription jumps again - early action is key!

What is TRANSIENT MYOPIA?

Near-work induced transient myopia(NITM), a lenticular based pseudo-myopia, is commonly found in myopic teenagers and young adults. It has been speculated that its presence may be a factor in nearwork-related symptoms and in the development os permanent myopia.

This means the eye tyemporarily changes its ability to focus light, resulting in a temporary loss of clear vision at a distance.

This can be resolved with proper rest or when the visual stimulus(like prolonged near work eg digital devices) is removed.

Visit your eye doctor regularly. 👀

Optometrists check patients for common vision problems, like astigmatism, nearsightedness(myopia), farsightedness(hyperopia) or presbyopia.

A comprehensive eye exam can identify potential eye problems. Cataracts and Dry Eye Disease are the most common.

Uncorrected refractive error, a leading cause of visual impairment, occurs when the eye cannot properly focus light onto the retina, resulting in blurred or distorted vision. This condition, often stemming from issues with the shape of the eye or the cornea, is a significant public health concern, impacting education, employment, and overall quality of life.

what is visual acuity test?

A visual acuity test is an eye exam that checks how well you see the details of a letter or symbol from a specific distance.

Visual acuity refers to your ability to discern the shapes and details of the things you see. It’s just one factor in your overall vision. Others include color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

There are several different types of visual acuity tests, most of which are very simple. Depending on the type of test and where it’s conducted, the exam can be performed by:
