Keeping Our Learners Safe and Healthy, Workshop 2: 2024 HEALTHY LEARNING INSTITUTION Action Planning Workshop at the School Level in the Province of Surigao del Norte

Last Octorber 8-11, 2024, 10 Last Mile Elementary School of Surigao del Norte took a significant step towards creating a healthier learning environment for our pupils.

This initiative supports the 'Healthy Learning Institution' program, ensuring students are protected and can focus on their studies while staying healthy.

The enthusiasm of those involved was inspiring, reminding us that even small efforts can greatly impact the well-being of our students.

We are thankful to the DOH-CHD Caraga and DepEd-SDN for their strong support in providing a safe and healthy learning environment for all students. This partnership reflects our shared dedication to the community’s well-being.

The event brought 5,226 Provincial Barangay Health Workers from across the province to improve community health. The summit featured an inspirational message from the representative of CHD-Caraga and an Adolescent Job Aid presentation by Sir Richie Escoza, the HEPO designate of the province. The event also included the distribution of BP apparatus, medicines, and honorarium worth 6,000 to all Provincial Barangay Health Workers.

During the summit, Governor Lyndon S. Barbers extended his heartfelt appreciation to all participants, acknowledging their momentous role in our health system. His support underscores the commitment of the provincial leadership to advancing public health.

NEWS UPDATE: DOH-7 logs 115 Reported Cases of Pertussis in Central Visayas

A total of 115 reported cases of pertussis have been tallied in Central Visayas from January to March this year, the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) confirmed on Tuesday, March 26.

Dr. Eugenia Mercedes CaΓ±al, regional epidemiologist of DOH-7, revealed that 42 of the 115 suspected cases are confirmed. Six confirmed deaths of infants due to the infection have also been recorded anew.

The department urges the public to observe good respiratory hygiene and seek prompt medical attention to the nearest healthcare provider when experiencing symptoms of severe cough, darkening or turning blue, and difficulty in breathing.

Pertussis, commonly known as "whooping cough", is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as "a highly contagious respiratory infection" that "spreads easily from person to person mainly through droplets produced by coughing or sneezing."

Ang PERTUSSIS nga sakit kay makatakud. Ang isa ka nasakit niini kay pwede makatakud sa 18 kabuok, tiguwang man o bata. Ang bakuna kontra pertussis makatabang pra malikayan ang posibilidad nga masakit niini ug malikayan usab ang komplikasypn sa sakit nga pertussis nga pwede mo kalas sa usa ka kinabuhi sa mga bata.

Ang Pertussis o Whooping Cough ng hatag ug saba ug lisod nga pag ginhawa human sa pag ubo. Makasinati ang bata ug apnea (undang sa pag ginhawa), lisod pag ginhawa, ug mag suka2x.

Magpa konsulta na dajun sa pinaka duol nga health center kung ang mga simtomas makita nasa inyong mga bata sama sa: gahi nga ubo, man luspad, ug maglisod na ug ginhawa.

Pabakunahan na ang mga batang 6 na linggo hanggang 23 buwang gulang para Chikiting Ligtas, dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga!
