People usually ask Why Psychologists charge? Why don’t they offer their services for free? Afterall, it’s a noble job.

Some people ask for sessions and then when they are told about the fee, they question is it for a complete month or a complete semester fee? Just for being sarcastic...

They also complain that we will pay you just for talking?

How about talking to your friends and family?

How is talking to a professional different?

It’s not just talking. There’s a lot of training, time, and care that goes into therapy. Therapy is active listening, empathy, figuring out and understanding dynamics and underlying issues. Therapists help people connect the dots and cope better with the issues that they bring into therapy. Not only that but a therapist also makes a treatment plan, implements it, and helps you along the way to a happier and healthier life.

That’s what you’re paying for. Not to mention the emotional toll it takes on therapists. They hear traumatic stories everyday and have to not only live with that, but also try to help you through it. It’s not an easy job.
