Shingles vaccine available at Skin Solutions Medical Spa

A major study in Nature has revealed that the shingles vaccine may significantly reduce dementia risk. Researchers in Wales found that people who received the vaccine were about 20% less likely to develop dementia over seven years compared to unvaccinated peers. The effect was even stronger among women. Scientists believe the vaccine could help by protecting the brain from viral damage or by strengthening the immune system in ways that safeguard brain health. While the study didn’t separate Alzheimer’s from other forms of dementia, the findings add to growing evidence that vaccines may protect more than just against infections. This discovery highlights a surprising new role for vaccines in supporting long-term brain health.
