๐ก๐๐ช๐ฆ | KSU Farmaceutica Society Hosts Generic Awareness Seminar
The Kalinga State University โ College of Health and Natural Sciences (CHNS), through the KSU Farmaceutica Society, successfully held the Generic Awareness Seminar on September 19, 2025, at the College of Health and Natural Sciences (CHNS) Building, Audio Visual Room. The event was attended by students from all year levels of the BS Pharmacy program, along with participants from Midwifery, Public Health, and Biology programs, united under the theme: โDOSE OF TRUTH: Educating KSU-CHNS Students on Generic Drugs.โ
The program began with a lively opening led by Fortlamy A. Talledo, Farmaceutica Society Vice President for Externals, followed by inspiring welcome remarks from Maโam Emogine L. Silip, RPh, BS Pharmacy Program Chairperson. She warmly welcomed the participants, acknowledged the presence of distinguished guests and faculty members, and highlighted the importance of the seminar in ensuring accessible, affordable, and effective healthcare.
In his inspirational message, Sir Ronald B. Bulwayan, Director of Student Development Services and Placement Services (SDSPS), emphasized that โthe seminar is both timely and essential,โ encouraging students to actively engage throughout the discussions.
Meanwhile, Ma'am Marlita E. Quesada, PhD, Dean of the College of Health and Natural Sciences, underscored the vital role of students in advocacy, stating that โby becoming advocates for generic awareness, you can make healthcare more accessible and affordable for all.โ
The highlight of the event was the lecture from the resource speaker, Sir Vic Valiant O. Laureta, RPh, CPh, MS Pharma, who delivered an insightful discussion on the safety, effectiveness, and affordability of generic medicines, as well as the empowerment of future healthcare professionals. He also challenged students and faculty members to become champions in promoting the use of generics.
Following the lecture, an open forum provided a platform for students to ask questions, raise concerns, and receive clarifications directly from Sir Laureta.
The seminar concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from Maโam Kelly Kates A. Lupnacan, Adviser of Farmaceutica Society, who expressed gratitude to the students, faculty, and honored guests for making the event a meaningful and successful endeavor.
The KSU Farmaceutica Society extends its deepest thanks to everyone who took part in the Generic Awareness Seminar: Dose of Truth. Truly, it was a day of learning, advocacy, and empowerment that strengthens the vision of accessible healthcare for all.
