Kalinga State University (KSU) students, representing The Earthline student publication, recently participated in the 20th Luzon Wide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) held from April 2 to 4, 2025, at Batis Aramin in Lucban, Quezon Province.

Among the stellar participants was Maria Angelika B. Sanchez, a second-year BS Pharmacy student from the College of Health and Natural Sciences. Angelika, who participated in the Comic Strip category as a Junior Layout Artist, showcased her creative talents alongside her fellow Earthline team members, including Arienne Kate R. Gagelonia, Xin-Ziyi Gupa-ay, Jerwin Baruzo, Israel Lacsa, Saldy Sapyong, Ram Ram Saliw-an, and Angelika herself.

This year’s event was a significant one for KSU as Jerwin B. Baruzo earned a 9th place medal in the Feature Writing (Filipino) category, continuing the legacy of excellence in student journalism. Despite not bringing home a medal, Angelika’s participation exemplified her commitment to KSU’s proud tradition of journalistic excellence.

The Earthline team, guided by their advisers Mayshein L. Balagso and Arjay B. Bedaña, demonstrated remarkable skill and passion throughout the competition. Congratulations to all participants, especially to Angelika Sanchez, for representing the College of Health and Natural Sciences and KSU with dedication and pride!

At dahil bawat boto ay mahalaga, inilunsad ng KSU-The Earthline ang Senate and Partylists Mock up Elections, na nag lalayong magbigay ng plataporma sa komunidad ng KSU na masuri ang kanilang mga pagpipilian, makisali sa demokratikong proseso, at masanay ang matalinong pag gawa ng desisyon.

Ang inisyatibong ito ay nagtataguyod ng pananagutang sibiko, kritikal na pag-iisip, at paghahanda sa elektoral lalo na para sa mga bagong botante na malapit nang gamitin ang kanilang karapatan sa nalalapit na halalan. Kaya naman, KSUones isaalang-alang natin ang kapangyarihan ng bawat boto, nawa'y huwag nating kalimutan na responsibilidad nating lahat, ang kinabukasan ng ating bayan.

Makibahagi sa sarbey na ito, para sa pagkakataong maging handa sa nalalapit na Halalan 2025.

POV: The Night Before Exams 🤯

Bess, magbasa ka na kasi! Huwag puro cellphone, baka ang sagot sa exam ay hindi mo mahanap sa TikTok o sa FB memes. Alam naming tempting yung “5-minute power nap” na nagiging 5-hour hibernation, pero laban lang!

Sa bawat pahina ng notes na binabasa mo (o binibilang mo lang), tandaan: Kaya natin ‘toh, Ka-CHNS! Hindi tayo pinaghirapan ng caffeine at highlighter para lang sumuko. Review-review din pag may time, ‘wag lang puro scroll!

⚠️ Exam hack:
✅ Basahin ang notes (hindi lang sa panaginip)
✅ Matulog ng sapat (pero wag sobra)
✅ Uminom ng tubig (hindi lang kape)
✅ Iwasan ang last-minute cramming (pero alam nating lahat na mangyayari pa rin 😭)

Two campus journalists from the College of Health and Natural Sciences (CHNS) and members of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦, the official student publication of Kalinga State University, showcased their journalistic prowess at the Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) held on February 12-14 at Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Angelika Sanchez, a junior layout artist of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦, earned multiple recognitions, securing 5𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 (𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵)—qualifying her for the Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) in April. She also placed 7𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵) and 8𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀, demonstrating her versatility in visual storytelling.

Meanwhile, Ivan Cosidon made a strong impact in the 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 6𝘁𝗵 in the competition, a testament to his skill and dedication to publication design.

The event, themed “𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘺: 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘎𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯,” gathered student journalists from across the Cordillera Administrative Region, providing a platform for skill enhancement, collaboration, and the promotion of journalistic integrity in the digital age.

With Sanchez set to advance to LHEPC 2025 in Lucban, Quezon, the CHNS community celebrates their achievements, marking another milestone for KSU’s student press.

Fortlamy A. Talledo, a 2nd-year BS Pharmacy student from the College of Health and Natural Sciences, is set to participate in the ASEAN Student Mobility Programme in Conjunction with the ASEAN Universities Exhibition and Forum 2025 (AEF2025) from February 19-25, 2025, at Sunway Resort Hotel & Universiti Putra Malaysia.

He will be competing in the Future Innovators Challenge alongside two other KSUan students from different colleges, showcasing innovation and excellence on an international stage.

In the warm glow of candlelight, a new chapter unfolds for the 4th-year BS Biology students of Batch 2025. Today, February 11, 2025, at Teatro Kalinga, they take a meaningful step forward—not just as students, but as future scientists, researchers, and stewards of life itself.

The Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony is more than a tradition—it is a profound symbol of dedication, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence in the biological sciences. The pin fastened to their chest represents their hard work, discipline, and commitment to the field of biology. The candle they hold is a beacon of hope, illuminating their journey as they move from the classroom into real-world practice, where knowledge meets purpose.
