Today, Divine Word Hospital - St. Paul's Hospital celebrates the Feast Day of St. Benedict of Nursia, Father of Western Monasticism and founder of the Benedictine way of life.

A solemn Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Patricio R. Delos Reyes Jr., SVD, together with Rev. Fr. Frederick Lauricio, SVD, and attended by the Benedictine Sisters, medical professionals, DWH employees, patients, and visitors. The celebration also featured the Rite of Acceptance of postulants, novices, and for full pledged oblates, as well as the Renewal of fully pledged oblates. These rites were led by Sr. Adelaida Ygrubay, OSB, the Mother Superior of the CBS of DWH Tacloban City—gathering the DWH community in a spirit of faith and gratitude.

St. Benedict’s enduring Rule of Life continues to encourage us with its call to “Ora et Labora” (Pray and Work).

On July 1, 2025, the Dietary Department of the Divine Word Hospital - St. Paul's Hospital celebrated Nutrition Month with this year's theme "Sa PPAN: Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!" and sub-theme "Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!"

In line with this, the DWH Dietary Department organized a nutrition awareness and promotion activity which featured a short talk about Nutrition Month, free diet counseling, and distribution of free arroz caldo from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the Out-Patient Department area.

This activity also aims to promote the services offered by the Dietary Department which include nutrition screening, assessment, monitoring and evaluation, diet instruction, and enteral nutrition feeding instruction using oral nutrition supplements for in-patients, and nutrition assessment and diet instruction for out-patients.

Thus, these are the concrete efforts of the DWH Dietary Department in giving high priority on nutrition which is a key contributor to disease prevention, treatment, and management.
