To our dear Taclobanons, Ormocanons, Leyteños, and Samarnons, please remain vigilant even though the worst of the storm and heavy winds from Super Typhoon Uwan seem to have passed our area.
Your safety remains the number one priority.
🚨 Eastern Visayas: Safety Pointers Post-Storm
The danger isn't over just because the rain has stopped. We must stay alert for secondary hazards.
Wait for the Official "All Clear": Do not leave your shelter or return home from evacuation until local authorities (LGU/Barangay) officially announce it is safe.
Beware of Floods and Hazards:
NEVER wade or drive through floodwaters. They may be contaminated or hide hazards like open manholes.
Assume all downed power lines are LIVE. Stay far away and report them immediately to your power company or local officials.
Check Your Home:
Inspect your house for structural damage before fully re-entering.
Turn off and unplug appliances. Have a qualified electrician check your wiring if you experienced flooding.
Check for gas leaks (smell for sulfur) and evacuate immediately if detected.
Water and Food Safety:
Boil all drinking water for at least 3 minutes until local authorities confirm the public supply is safe.
Discard any perishable food that was not properly refrigerated during the power outage.
💛 Thoughts and Prayers for Luzon
Our hearts and minds are with our family, friends, and colleagues in Luzon, especially those in the Bicol Region and Northern/Central Luzon, who are currently facing the direct path of Super Typhoon Uwan.
Please prepare, be safe, and pray.
Pointers for those in Luzon:
Seek Shelter NOW: If you are in a mandatory evacuation area (especially those under Signal No. 5, 4, or 3), evacuate immediately to a sturdy, designated shelter.
Secure Your Home: Protect windows with tape or board, and bring all outdoor items (plants, furniture, etc.) indoors.
Charge Everything: Ensure all cell phones, power banks, and flashlights are fully charged now before power outages occur.
Prepare Your Emergency Kit: Have a "Go Bag" ready with food, water, medicine, a radio, and important documents.
Keep monitoring official news channels (PAGASA, LGU, NDRRMC) for the latest updates and advisories.
Stay safe, everyone. We are praying for your protection.
