In celebration of World Diabetes Day, the Eastern Visayas Medical Center conducted a health education session at the Outpatient Department (OPD) to equip patients with essential knowledge on diabetes prevention, early detection, and proper disease management.

The activity featured a multi-disciplinary panel of speakers who highlighted the importance of a holistic approach to diabetes care.

Ms. Peachie Alvarez, Ms. Bianca Danille De Veyra, and Mr. Jeth Adrian Coritana from the Rehabilitation Medicine Department discussed the vital role of regular physical exercise in controlling blood sugar and improving overall health. Ms. Amana Kessan Cabugwang from the Nutrition and Dietetics Section provided practical guidance on healthy eating and proper nutrition for diabetes prevention and management.

Morever, Dr. Dennis Esquivel, Head of Family Medicine, delivered a comprehensive discussion on the symptoms, risk factors, and available treatment options for diabetes, while Dr. Randy Saavedra, Head of the Public Health Unit shared valuable insights on alternative healthcare practices that may complement conventional management.

Through this initiative, EVMC reaffirms its commitment to raising awareness, empowering patients, and promoting healthier communities as part of its observance of World Diabetes Day.
