Stay Safe, Get Vaccinated: Protect Yourself with the Anti-Rabies Vaccine Immediately
A man in Tabaco City, Albay, died of rabies almost six months after being bitten by a dog.
According to Tabaco City Veterinary Officer Renee Rocha, the man was bitten by a dog in December 2023 at SagΓ±ay Camarines Sur, but he did not consult with a doctor until six months later, when he started experiencing severe symptoms of rabies until he died.
Rocha also added that the man is a resident of Brgy. Patitinan, Camarines Sur, and went to Tabaco, Albay, for work.
Meanwhile, the City Veterinary Office in collaboration with the Tabaco City Health Office has begun contact tracing to administer anti-rabies vaccinations to the victimβs close contacts.
The office reminds the public to immediately consult with a doctor and be vaccinated once bitten by an animal.
