ONE STEP, ONE FOOTPRINT

This is a Chinese phrase that is generally believed to describe one's steady progress made through a person's consistent effort, with each action leaving a visible mark behind.

In our qigong and tai chi practice we are not going for speed, shortcuts, or dramatic breakthroughs. Instead in our practice we apply patience, persistence, and the understanding that any worthwhile skill develops gradually.

Join our live online qigong classes delivered via Zoom platform at 9am on Saturdays at 9 am (Philippine time).

In these times of increasing speed and anxiety, people might find that turning to the quiet power of the ancient art of qigong is the antidote to the stress and disorder of our modern life.

Qi (pronounced chi) = energy

Gong (kung) = exercise

Qigong = energy exercises

This type of exercise is different because it generates energy instead of just using up energy.

In class, before we get to the qigong set, I first get everyone to do a body scan to relax the body. Then we focus on the breath and steady it. Then we go about relaxing and focusing the mind.

When the body is relaxed, the breath becomes steady. When the breath is steady, the mind begins to settle. Then we are ready to begin our qigong set.

A restless body equals uneven breath which results in a scattered mind. Not a good foundation for movement of energy throughout the body.

Online via Zoom qigong classes start at 9am on 16 May 2026. Please message us through our FB inbox for questions or enrolment procedures. Have a nice day.

Have a good evening.

Qigong live on Zoom Class 1 of 4 starts once again at 9am tomorrow, 7 March (Philippine time). Please drop us a message through our inbox if you would like to join the class or if you have any questions about the class.

We will be doing some Wudang style animal forms starting with the Tortoise.

The Tortoise is a land dwelling reptile with a dome-shaped shell and very sturdy legs. In traditional Chinese culture the tortoise represents longevity, wisdom, stability and protection.

The tortoise is connected with the energy of water which is related to the kidneys and urinary bladder.

We place a lot of attention to hip flexibility in our tai chi and qigong practice. Why does it matter?

Tight hips lead to lower back pain, knee strain and poor posture
Stiff hip muscles lead to reduced circulation, fluid stagnation, soreness.

When one has balanced hips one gets better gait, improved posture and good spinal alignment.

What muscles are we targeting?
Front of the hip: Iliopsoas muscles also known as hip flexors
Back of the hip: Gluteus muscles
Inner thigh: Adductor muscles
Outer thigh: Abductor muscles

Next time you practice with us either online or face-to-face (Tagbilaran City only) keep these pointers in mind.
