Urologist or Nephrologist?
It’s easy to get confused. Both deal with the kidneys but in different ways.
This simple guide breaks it down.
🔹 Urologists handle problems with urination, kidney stones, prostate, and the male reproductive system.
🔹 Nephrologists focus on kidney diseases like chronic kidney disease, high creatinine, and conditions that may need dialysis.
Knowing the difference can help you find the right care when you need it.

The prostate sits just below the bladder and surrounds the urethra—the tube that carries urine out. When the prostate becomes enlarged, it can press on the urethra and make urination difficult.

“Necessity is the mother of invention” is an old proverb that roughly means the design and creation of something is brought about by a need. Our Urology Online Consult page is not exactly a new invention. But being the soft-spoken and unassuming individual that he is, Dr. Francis John C. Pile understood that he needed to reinvent himself in the time of COVID-19 when his patients do not have that easy access to his clinic due to the pandemic.
“All doctors feel uneasy having to create a presence online because we have to follow ethical standards that have been here since time immemorial. I, myself, am a bit low-key when it comes to social media, to be honest. But how else can our patients and those who require our professional care reach out to us especially in the time of the pandemic? Brick and mortar businesses have been adapting to societal changes by establishing online presence through the years. Why can’t we make use of that same technology that allows people to have easier access to us? Even medical professionals like us will need to adapt if we want to continue serving you.”
Thus, Urology Online Consult was created. Its purpose is to provide information about urologic care and treatment and to serve as a ready-access tool for patients to Dr. Pile.
