Did you know there are different types of psoriasis?
Psoriasis isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s a chronic skin condition with several forms—each with its own appearance and symptoms. Here’s a quick breakdown:

🔴 Plaque Psoriasis
The most common type. Appears as raised, red patches covered with silvery-white scales. Often found on the elbows, knees, scalp, and back.

🔵 Guttate Psoriasis
Looks like small, red spots—usually triggered by infections (like strep throat). It’s more common in children and young adults.

⚪ Inverse Psoriasis
Smooth, red, shiny lesions that appear in skin folds (like underarms, groin, or under the breasts). It can be painful and worsens with friction or sweat.

🟣 Pustular Psoriasis
White pustules (blisters of non-infectious pus) surrounded by red skin. It can be localized (on hands/feet) or generalized across the body.

⚫ Erythrodermic Psoriasis (Rare & Severe)
A widespread redness, scaling, and shedding of the skin. It can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention.

🧴 Every case is unique—so treatment should be too. If you or someone you know is struggling with psoriasis, a dermatologist can help create a personalized care plan.

What is Filariasis?
Also known as Elephantiasis, Filariasis is a mosquito-borne parasitic disease that causes severe swelling, most commonly in the legs and ge****ls. It’s not just a tropical nuisance, it’s a serious public health issue.

🔬 Caused by:
Tiny worms (filarial parasites) transmitted through repeated mosquito bites.

😷 Symptoms:
•Swelling in limbs or ge****ls
•Thickened skin
•Fever and chills
•Disability and emotional distress

How to prevent:
✅ Avoid mosquito bites (use nets, repellents)
✅ Maintain proper sanitation
✅ Follow mass drug administration (MDA) programs in endemic areas

📍 High-risk areas:
Parts of Mindanao, Palawan, and Samar have reported cases.
But the good news? The Philippines has made great progress in eliminating filariasis through government programs!

HIVES 101: What You Need to Know! 🐝🚫

Ever had itchy red welts suddenly appear on your skin? That might be hives — and no, they’re not caused by bees! Here’s a quick breakdown 👇

🔍 What Are Hives?
Also known as urticaria, hives are itchy, red, or skin-colored bumps or welts that appear suddenly — and often disappear just as quickly.

📆 How Long Do They Last?
•Acute: Lasts less than 6 weeks
•Chronic: Lasts longer than 6 weeks (often needs a doctor’s help!)

🧪 Common Triggers:
•Food (e.g., nuts, shellfish)
•Medications
•Infections
•Stress
•Heat, cold, or sunlight
•Unknown causes (yes, it happens!)

🛑 When to See a Doctor:
•Hives last more than a few days
•They keep coming back
•You have trouble breathing or swelling in your face — this is an emergency! 🚨

💡 Fun Fact:
Hives are your body’s way of releasing histamine, a chemical that causes swelling and itching!

✅ Quick Tips:
•Try an OTC antihistamine
•Avoid scratching
•Identify and avoid triggers
•Keep cool — heat can make it worse

3 Unexpected Causes of Acne You Probably Didn’t Know! 😱

Still breaking out even with a solid skincare routine? The culprit might be hiding in plain sight. Here are 3 surprising acne triggers you should watch out for:

👉 1. Pillowcases 😴
Your pillowcase collects oil, dead skin, and product residue. Change it 2–3 times a week to avoid reintroducing bacteria to your skin every night.

👉 2. Hats & Headwear 🧢
Wearing hats, caps, or headbands too often can trap sweat, oil, and bacteria leading to forehead and hairline breakouts. Make sure to clean them regularly and give your skin a breather!

👉 3. Hair Products 💇
Sticky sprays, oils, or pomades can clog pores especially near the forehead and cheeks. Look for non-comedogenic or acne-safe haircare options.

✨ Bonus Tip: Stress and poor sleep can also mess with your hormones, making breakouts worse.

✅ Treat acne from all angles with the right skincare and smarter daily habits.

Got a Boil or Stye? Here’s How to Treat It at Home Safely! ✨

Both boils and styes are infections that cause painful, pus-filled lumps, a boil on your skin and a stye on your eyelid. Thankfully, most clear up on their own with simple home care.

✅ Do:
🔸 Apply a warm compress 3-4 times a day for 10-15 minutes to reduce pain and help draw out the pus.
🔸 Keep the area clean with mild soap and water.
🔸 Avoid squeezing or popping it, this can make the infection worse!
🔸 Wash your hands before and after touching the area.

❌ Don’t:
🚫 Don’t wear contact lenses or eye makeup if you have a stye.
🚫 Don’t share towels or face cloths, infections can spread.

🏥 See a doctor if:
👉 The boil or stye is very painful, grows larger, or doesn’t improve after 7-10 days.
👉 You have a fever or feel sick.

💡 Prevention tip: Maintain good personal hygiene and wash hands frequently!

💡 Did you know?
Switching your acne treatment too often can actually irritate your skin and making breakouts worse! 😬

✨ Patience is key. Stick with one product for 6–8 weeks to see improvement. If you’re not seeing any results after that, it may be time to try something new and remember, true clearing usually takes 3–4 months.

Your skin will thank you for going slow and steady! 💛
