At my medical aesthetic practice at , I see this all the time when I perform injectable :
Patients tense up, eyes shut tight, toes curled like they’re about to be launched into space. Then comes the injection—swift, precise, over in half a second. Their eyes pop open.
“That’s it?”
Every. Single. Time.
And that’s when I smile and say,
from Injection: The 15-minute panic in your head? Way more painful than the split-second prick.
The truth is, the anticipation of the injection is usually far more dramatic than the actual moment. And isn’t life the same? We overthink, catastrophise, and spiral into worst-case scenarios… only to realise the “scary” thing we feared was quick, manageable, and entirely survivable.
Whether it’s a decision, a detour, or a procedure, the real pain often lies in the waiting—not in the doing.
So next time your nerves start telling stories, remember this: whether at the clinic or in life, real growth happens when you muster the courage, show up, and take action—even with your eyes closed.
