🌸 Celebrating the Power of Women: Honoring 5 Iconic Filipinas 🌸

As we wrap up Women’s Month, let’s shine a light on five extraordinary Filipinas who have shaped history, inspired generations, and made a lasting impact on the Philippines! 🇵🇭✨

1️⃣ Gabriela Silang (1731–1763) – The first Filipina revolutionary leader, she led the fight against Spanish colonization after the assassination of her husband, Diego Silang. Her bravery continues to inspire Filipinas today.

2️⃣ Melchora Aquino (1812–1919) – Known as Tandang Sora, she was a fearless mother of the Philippine Revolution. She provided shelter, food, and medical aid to Katipuneros, earning her the title Mother of the Revolution.

3️⃣ Corazon Aquino (1933–2009) – The first female President of the Philippines and Asia’s first female head of state. She played a crucial role in restoring democracy after the People Power Revolution in 1986.

4️⃣ Lea Salonga (Born 1971) – A world-renowned singer and actress, she became the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award for her role in Miss Saigon. She also provided the singing voices for Disney’s Mulan and Jasmine in Aladdin.

5️⃣ Maria Ressa (Born 1963) – A Nobel Peace Prize-winning journalist and co-founder of Rappler, she has been a strong advocate for press freedom and democracy, fighting against misinformation and corruption.
