Such an inspiring journey to witness—a true testament to finding strength in the face of challenges, embracing faith, and holding onto hope for a brighter future.
We ❤️ you, Zev!
April is Autism Awareness Month, and we'd love to take a moment to share more about Zev.
One thing people sometimes don’t realize about kids like him is that just because he’s quiet doesn’t mean he isn’t listening, learning, or feeling deeply. Zev experiences the world in his own unique way, one that’s beautiful, challenging, and filled with moments of pure joy.
Zev can be quiet, but he can also be very energetic—flapping his hands, jumping, running around, and just letting it all out. We’re still working on his tiptoeing… though at this rate, he might not need that many leg days when he grows up. His calves are calving already! 😂
He loves music, he loves singing, he’s into upbeat rock, worship songs, and he can memorize a song just by listening to it once. He's great at reading, his writing has improved, and he's good with numbers too. He's getting better at conversations and speaks more when he's frustrated or when he really wants something. He’s a genius in his own way, and we are deeply proud of him.
He thrives on routine, he knows his way home, and even recognizes familiar routes when we drive. He has sensory issues with food, but he’s been exploring more options, though pandesal, pancakes, chicken, and banana hazelnut waffle will always be top-tier for him! 😋
Zev also loves his books, he has tons of them. They may not be in the best shape anymore, but that’s only because he always reads them. He still goes to therapy and SPED class, and he's also an achiever. He’ll be graduating from Kinder 2 soon, and moving up to a regular/inclusive class next school year. We couldn’t be prouder of him!
And here’s another fun fact, Zev is also hilarious! Guess the shared humor from his parents led him to this HAHA. He loves making us laugh, and he knows exactly when to be funny. His little world is so amazing, and we just hope more people could step into it, and truly understand him.
Zev is also affectionate, and protective of his ading, though he can get annoyed when ading is too kulit as well. 😅
He also loves slides, and his energy? Unlimited. We’re constantly keeping up with him, and his ading, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Love our kids to bits!
So if you ever see us outside, and our Kuya Zev isn’t in the mood, please understand and extend a little extra patience. He’s still working on coping with his emotions—but honestly, aren’t we all?
Zev is such a great kid. We know God has incredible plans for him. Like we always say, he’ll be a living testimony of how God’s amazing wonders work! 🩵
See how he is also doing the things neurotypical kids do? Because autism is not a disease. Autism doesn’t define limits, it reveals possibilities. They are different, not less. They are just as capable. They simply need more understanding. It may take them longer, but with better opportunities, they can also thrive in life.
They say to give credit where it’s due, and it truly does take a village to raise a child. To Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician - Dr Pabs Planta , who takes care of Zev’s well-being, and always gives the right advice, thank you. To Teacher Alanys, Teacher Crissa, Teacher Grace, Teacher Arvie, and all the therapists and staff of A · Works Therapy and Learning Center, your patience, and dedication in helping Zev develop his skills, and speech are truly transformative. We deeply appreciate you. To Teacher Nora, Teacher Lhyka, Teacher Cherry, and all the teachers and staff at Central Village Thinkers Academy Inc., thank you for your kindness, and understanding. Your guidance has helped Zev achieve amazing things in his academics, and we are forever grateful.
To all our friends and family who love Zev as much as we do, and still try to bond with him despite his little quirks, thank you. We see you, we appreciate you, and it truly means the world to us. 💙
To all the parents out there who are on a similar journey, you are not alone. Celebrate your kids’ progress, no matter how big or small. Advocate for them, support them, and believe that they are capable of amazing things. Never lose hope. Trust in the Lord and His great plans! It does get better!
Appreciate you reading all the way through.
Did you know that opportunities, and benefits for kids with special needs in the Philippines are often overlooked and not given the attention they deserve?
So parents, let’s be wiser in choosing the leaders we vote for in the upcoming elections. We can pray for a better country, but we must also do our part. Vote wisely, stay informed, and pay attention to what’s happening around us. It’s becoming clearer who truly serves the people and who is only looking out for their own interests. 🤔
Do your research and stand up for a future where all children, neurodivergent or not, get the support they deserve!
