Did you know diabetes can damage the eyes even before vision becomes blurry? 👁️⚠️

Many people with diabetes feel that their eyesight is still “okay,” so they assume their eyes are fine. However, diabetic eye disease can develop quietly and may only become obvious after the retina has already been affected.

Warning signs may include:
🔹 blurred vision
🔹 floaters
🔹 dark spots
🔹 distorted vision
🔹 sudden vision loss

The good news is that early detection and proper treatment can help protect vision. ✅

We prepared a patient-friendly guide explaining what diabetic eye disease is, how it affects the retina, and why regular eye exams matter.

Diabetic eye disease often begins with no symptoms. Learn the early warning signs, stages of diabetic retinopathy, the best screening schedule, and today’s proven treatments—eye injections, laser, and surgery—to protect your vision.

Diabetic Macular Edema: Protecting Your Central Vision 👁️✨

If you have diabetes and notice blurred or distorted central vision, diabetic macular edema (DME) may be the cause. This happens when fluid leaks into the macula—the part of the eye responsible for sharp, detailed vision.

At ROQUE Eye Clinic, we focus on evidence-based care guided by international standards such as AAO Preferred Practice Patterns and peer-reviewed studies. 💙

Treatment options may include:
• Intravitreal anti-VEGF injections (e.g., Vabysmo, Eylea, Lucentis, Avastin)
• Steroid implants (e.g., Ozurdex)
• Laser therapy in selected cases

Think of the macula like the “HD center” of your eye—when fluid builds up, the image becomes blurry, like a wet camera lens.
