I had to learn everything about perimenopause in reverse.

So when I hear women in their late 30s / early 40s say “Not me. Not yet. Not now.” - I recognize those words. They’re not in denial. Nobody handed them the map.

This one’s for those who are clearly in the middle of something, but aren’t sure yet what to call it.

I read 400 comments in perimenopause and menopause groups this week. The same sentence kept appearing, in slightly different forms:

"I'm expected to carry on like everything is fine."

Estrogen doesn't decline in a straight line during perimenopause, it fluctuates. Those fluctuations affect sleep, mood, recovery, and how you process stress.

The exhaustion isn't weakness.
The anxiety isn't drama.
The brain fog isn't you becoming less capable.

Your body is changing. And the advice most women get...eat less, sleep more, push harder. It was never designed for this phase.

If you recognized yourself in any of these comments, save the post. Share it with a friend in her 40s who thinks she's losing her mind.

She isn't.
We built SecondSpring because this phase deserves more support.

You searched this for a reason. And the answer is yes — protein needs actually increase in your 40s, not decrease. Muscle becomes harder to maintain, recovery takes longer, and perimenopause accelerates both. It’s not a gym thing. It’s a this-stage-of-life thing.

SecondSpring was made exactly for this.

Great taste. Zero effort. Less cravings.

No notes. ☺️

These aren’t headlines. They’re real words from real women in perimenopause groups online.
We spent time listening in community spaces not to market, but to understand. And what we heard over and over was this:

Women aren’t just dealing with symptoms. They’re dealing with the loneliness of not being believed. The frustration of being told “it’s just stress.” The quiet fear that maybe something is actually wrong with them.

It’s not just stress. It’s not in your head. And it’s not something you need to push through in silence.
Perimenopause is a real, physiological transition that affects mood, energy, cognition, sleep, joints, skin and the list doesn’t stop there.

If you recognised yourself in any of these slides, save this post. Send it to someone who needs to hear it. Because sometimes the most powerful thing isn’t a solution - it’s knowing you’re not the only one.

Everyone talks about hot flashes.
Almost no one talks about the anxiety.

Anxiety was one of the most common symptoms women reported in a perimenopause community thread we followed, mentioned more than hot flashes, weight gain, or brain fog.

Not generalized worry.
Women described panic attacks, morning dread, intrusive thoughts, a constant pit in the stomach — and the fear that it might not get better.

And most had no idea it could be hormonal.

During perimenopause, estrogen doesn’t just decline, it fluctuates unpredictably.
These fluctuations can affect key brain chemicals like serotonin and GABA, which play a role in mood and calm.

When this balance is disrupted, it may help explain why anxiety can feel so sudden. So physical. So unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

It’s not a personal failing.

And it’s worth a conversation with a doctor who understands perimenopause, not one who sends you home with “you’re fine.”

Save this if you needed to hear it today.

I love a good checklist. Not tasks nor errands but things that make you strong and keep you well. This is mine. What’s on yours?

Perimenopause is not just hot flashes. And most women are missing it.

A 2026 study surveyed 17,000+ women across 158 countries.
The gap between what women associate with perimenopause and what they actually experience was striking.

The symptoms showing up most - fatigue, exhaustion, irritability, mood changes, gut issues, anxiety, are the ones least talked about.

158 countries. The same invisible experience.

Save this for someone who needs to see these numbers.

Back at your desk, back to the list. Also the part where you take care of yourself — not after everything else, but alongside it.

Perimenopause gets a lot of airtime for the hard parts. This is the other list - the one nobody makes because we’re too busy managing symptoms to notice what’s quietly shifting alongside them.

5 things worth looking forward to, even now, in the middle of it.
