During my residency, the youngest patient I encountered with colon cancer was a 22-year-old male who claimed to have no family history of cancer. Initially, I suspected he had acute appendicitis, but during surgery, I discovered a mass on his ascending colon. I performed a right hemicolectomy and found that the mass was cancerous. Let’s be cautious about our food consumption as it is well-established that a diet high in animal fat and low in fiber contributes to the development of colorectal cancer.

Gibutyag ni Dr. Robert Bandolon, ang Consultant and Section Head sa SPMC Colon and Re**al Surgery Section, nga nagkadaghan na ang mga pasyente sa SPMC, gani adunay nag edad og 20 ug 30 anyos nga nataptan sa sakit, mas sayo nga edad itandi kaniadto nga nag-edad lamang og 50-anyos pataas ang naigo niini.

Sumala sa opisyal nga sagad makuha ang sakit sa mga ginakaon sa tawo sama sa fast food, pagkaon nga adunay preservative, pagpanigarilyo, ug mga ilimnong makahubog.

Lakip sa mga simtomas niini ang bleeding ug irregular nga pagpagawas sa hugaw.

Pahimangno ni Bandolon nga magpa-screening o magpakonsulta, aron malikayan ang maong sakit ilabi na nga dili mabati ang kasakit kung polyp o gamay pa lamang ang bukol niini.

Karong bulan sa Marso, gi-obserba ang National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
