𝟓 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑

The Fourth Commandment has been forgotten by most of the world even though, ironically, it is the only one in which God expressly uses the word “remember.” That’s especially tragic considering the many blessings that come with keeping the seventh-day Sabbath, a day that Jesus said was made for all mankind.

Here are five reasons why remembering the Sabbath is still important today …

1. CREATION. The Sabbath is a weekly reminder that God created our world. More than that, He kept the Sabbath by ceasing from creating, giving us an example that would help us maintain our connection to Him. “On the seventh day God ended His work. … Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work” (Genesis 2: 2, 3).

2. REDEMPTION. The Sabbath is also identified as a sign of God’s work of redemption, through Jesus Christ, in the lives of His people. “He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: ‘And God rested on the seventh day from all His works’; … There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His” (Hebrews 4:4, 9, 10).

3. ALLEGIANCE. Keeping the Sabbath holy provides evidence of our allegiance to God. The apostle Paul wrote, “Whom you present yourselves [as] slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness” (Romans 6:16). Keeping the Sabbath demonstrates our acceptance of God’s authority in our lives. Obedience is the highest form of allegiance and worship.

4. SEAL OF AUTHORITY. The Sabbath commandment contains the seal of God and is a sign of His authority over our world. It serves as a seal in that it gives His title, Creator, and the scope of His dominion, “the heavens and the earth.” (See Exodus 20:8–11.)
5. ETERNAL. Throughout eternity, the Sabbath will be a constant witness of the creative and re-creative power of God. “It shall come to pass that…from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord” (Isaiah 66:23). Keeping it today is like having a taste of the eternity to come!

The one day that God specifically sanctified for mankind is the seventh day, Saturday: “Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. The truth is that God is looking upon each individual heart, at the decisions that each individual makes. “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve” (Joshua 24:15, emphasis added), the Bible instructs. It is your personal choice whether to follow God or not.

May God grant each one of us the courage to honor the Sabbath commandment as heaven’s special test of our love and loyalty( JOHN 14:15). As we have discovered, when Jesus returns, we will keep that same Sabbath with Him, ages without end. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

I have seen an angel standing with scales in his hands weighing the thoughts and interest of the people of God, especially the young. In one scale were the thoughts and interest tending heavenward; in the other were the thoughts and interest tending to earth. And in this scale were thrown all the reading of storybooks, thoughts of dress and show, vanity, pride, etc.

Oh, what a solemn moment! the angels of God standing with scales, weighing the thoughts of His professed children—those who claim to be dead to the world and alive to God. The scale filled with thoughts of earth, vanity, and pride quickly went down, notwithstanding weight after weight rolled from the scale.

The one with the thoughts and interest tending to heaven went quickly up as the other went down, and oh, how light it was! I can relate this as I saw it; but never can I give the solemn and vivid impression stamped upon my mind, as I saw the angel with the scales weighing the thoughts and interest of the people of God. Said the angel:

"Can such enter heaven? No, no, never. Tell them the hope they now possess is vain, and unless they speedily repent, and obtain salvation, they must perish."—Testimonies for the Church 1:124, 125.

Those Who Indulge and Foster Sin—Because of sin, Satan was thrust out of heaven; and no man indulging and fostering sin can go to heaven, for then Satan would again have a foothold there.—Testimonies for the Church 4:346.

THE POPE’S APOLOGY TOUR IN CANADA IS A FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY
“The Romish Church now present a fair front to the world, covering with apologies for her record of horrible cruelties” (Great Controversy, p. 570).
Pope Francis is currently on an apology tour in Canada giving a series of speeches and public appearances to express regret for the “horrible cruelties,” sexual abuses, mistreatment and death that thousands of indigenous children endured in Roman Catholic boarding schools. Thousands of children were secretly buried in unmarked graves on school grounds owned by the Catholic Church.
