Established in 1983, the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is observed annually on the third Sunday of May all throughout the world. This campaign brings together communities to honor the lives lost to AIDS-related diseases, to support the individuals living with HIV, to advocate to end stigma and discrimination and to celebrate the individuals who work tirelessly for the HIV program and its clients.

This year’s theme, “We remember, we rise, we lead,” is a call to emphasize memory, resilience and leadership.

The REDSTAR Clinic commemorates the souls of those who departed due to AIDS-related illnesses and celebrates the lives of the healthcare workers around the globe who work tirelessly for the welfare of PLHIVs through the 2025 International AIDS Candlelight Memorial (IACM). This year’s theme, “We remember, we rise, we lead,” is a testament to the solidarity we have attained in the past years up to the present as we strive for better services in relation to HIV and their health.

The 2025 IACM, a collaboration between DRMC, the City Health Office of Tagum, and the Provincial Health Office, was conducted at the Tagum City Historical and Cultural Center Theatre on May 16, 2025. In attendance are DRMC, CHO, and PHO personnel; the Tagum City AIDS Council; educational institutions; non-government offices; and private groups and individuals.
