✨A PEGtastic Day at Tagum Medical City✨

We're thrilled to share the heartwarming success of our recent charity initiative, where our incredible team performed Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) insertions for two children with unique needs from Angel's Haven Institute, Tagum Medical City’s adopted community. This procedure is crucial for children who struggle with feeding, allowing them to receive essential nutrition directly into their stomachs. It significantly improves their quality of life, helping them thrive and gain strength.

A huge thank you to Dr. Mary Grace Magallen - Evangelista, our skilled endoscopist; Dr. Marites L. Domingo, the compassionate anesthesiologist; Dr. Russlin A. Huerta, our talented surgeon; and Dr. Jim Osorio, our dedicated pediatrician and TMC’s Medical Director. Their expertise and dedication, along with the support of our Endoscopy team and OR staff, made this possible.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Tagum North for their generous donation of the PEG tubes.

ANOTHER COIN, ANOTHER DAY

Today, we successfully removed a one peso coin from a 1-year old patient during a gastroscopy—our youngest patient yet!

This case highlights the crucial issue of foreign body ingestion in young children. Items like coins, small toys, and other objects can pose serious risks.

A huge thank you to our amazing endoscopist, Dr. Mary Grace Magallen - Evangelista, our skilled anesthesiologist, Dr. Jennifer Mabilangan - Balili, our Endo Team - Ma’am Mirai, Ma’am Excell and Sir Ep2x and the fantastic OR staff headed by Sir PJ and the legendary Sir Balong for their exceptional teamwork and care.

Parents and caregivers, please be vigilant! Keep small objects out of reach and educate your little ones about what is safe to play with.
