Rabies is transmitted through the saliva of infected animals, commonly via bites or scratches.
It progresses in four stages:
incubation, prodromal (initial symptoms like fever and headache), excitative (agitation, hydrophobia), and paralytic (leading to coma and death).

Prevention is crucial, involving avoiding wild animals, vaccinating pets, and seeking immediate wound cleaning and post-exposure vaccinations after potential exposure.
Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal, with a negligible survival rate even with treatment. Early intervention is key to prevention.
