The Visual Effects of RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA

😐 RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA (RP) is a progressive dying of the cells of the retina ( the light sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eye ) and its retinal pigmented lining. It involves both eyes and is a genetic disorder.

☝Common visual effects are:

➡️ Difficulty getting around in the dark.
➡️ Glare or uncomfortable vision with bright lights
➡️ Loss of side (peripheral) vision. Patient trips over things and appear clumsy.
➡️ Loss of central vision - late stage
➡️ Impaired color vision
